Anything out there good to use for a floor in a ground blind. Just trying to stay away from the mud that inevitably happens after a rain. Have tried using canvas but then when it gets cold and freezes its just crunchy and loud. Thought about getting a piece of remnant carpet but thought that might have the same issue. Any ideas?
What about using straw? I would think that anything with fabric would mildew from the rain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not sure. I always try to put it where it is higher than the surrounding ground just so the water will drain away.
I've dug trenches around blinds and have built diversion dams but I usually try and place them in a higher spot if I can. Carpet does help some but it gets crunchy if it gets wet and freezes too.
I've used plywood covered with outdoor carpeting. Not sure if you want to take it that far but it worked great. Just make sure to use treated wood.
We use an old piece of outdoor carpeting that looks like the stuff on the putt putt courses and it works great.
I use brown indoor outdoor carpet, sits outside all season, wash it off and it's ready for next year. Been going 3 seasons
Rake the floor. It'd take a pretty hard rain the night before to get the floor muddy. Besides, what's a little mud..
I haven't tried this but EPDM (rubber roofing) comes to mind. Usually can find used stuff on Craigslist
I have used an old sleeping bag. Wash it in scent killer and leave it hang outside. Pack it in and out rolled up tight. Doesn't add much weight to your carry pack. Really quiet in the blind.
Rubber mat works pretty well. Can get them with holes which keeps water and moisture from collecting.
can you get pine needles? sift all the other junk out of it. should be quiet. personally a little mud doesn't bother me. if it was in a low spot where it was really bad you might be able to throw a pallet down with carpet on top of it like a mini raised floor.
