I'm in the same boat(no pun intended). The land I own has been under water a few times this year. That's why I won't be hunting down there this year.

This is the 3rd time for mine this year also. Usually doesn't happen this late though. Will just have to wait till it recedes to see how bad the damage is. Problem for me is it's the only place I have to hunt. Oh well, the deer will be back by November rut that's for sure.

Dude that sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. And here I was feeling sorry for myself that most of one of my food plots was under 6" of water. Hope it dries up quick for you guys and the deer move back in before the rut kicks in. If either of you guys decides to hunt somewhere else you can come up this way and I'll put you in a stand.

Yeah, I have been scouting public around my house because of all the rain. This happened 2 years ago too, and the deer left for the year. After mid September, when the new growth died off, there wasn't any food for them. Mine was flooded that year from April-August straight through though.

Thanks for the offer! I've got some good public land spots picked out though, so going to give them a shot. Just waiting for the wife to get done with school and then I'll look at buying some high ground, lol.

So I'm wondering, is it a bad idea to check cameras one more time before the season? Some people think it doesn't matter, I know a couple others that won't set foot in the woods for at least a month before the season starts?

My cameras are set up in spots where there is a good amount of human activity. The farm is an active oil and natural gas producing farm so the wells always have to be checked. I do try to keep it minimal though, and its always mid day when I check. I prefer to check in the rain so most of scent I leave behind is washed out. And I run my cameras atleast 7 months out of the year ( July through January). I'm sure I bump a few deer here and there but the bigger bucks still stay around

I hate losing arrows. Nothing like watching $15 fly into oblivion.

Ran out to put a camera on the soybean field. Might have a problem in a week. There were two deer bedded in the brush at the base of the tree next to the stand. One looked like a little button buck. Couldn't see the other one, just heard it go a different direction.
