Well, I just whiffed on a 20 yard shot at a really nice doe. Gotta remember to double check my anchor point. Saw a couple of pretty nice bucks too. This afternoon I am heading up to the private land I have permission to hunt.
Got my stands and blinds finished yesterday. 20 days until the opener. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
When Fitz gets the scoring thread up remember you also need date and time to go along with the two pictures of you the deer and your bow.
Just got in from my morning sit. I saw a couple of does to my south, and then I looked out into the field to my west and there were six buck strolling through the middle of it. There was one that might have been worth a shot if I was after antlers, but the rest were pretty small. A couple of them were standing perfectly broadside to me at 45 yards while the sparred with each other. Even if they had been bigger, I'm still not confident in that shot. My 40 yard groups just aren't where I want them. My son and I saw 4 deer last night. The clock said there was 10 minutes of legal light left, but my eyes said no, so I dropped my quiver to the ground, and lowered the bow. Then I noticed a deer heading my way. It was a buck, and he looked pretty good in the low light. When he passed by me at 12 yards I would have had enough light for that shot. He was probably only a 2 1/2 year old deer though, so if he makes it through 5 weeks of firearms season he should be good next year. I don't really pay much attention to antlers, so he may not be safe if he walks by me again. I really just want the meat, and them young'uns are good eatin.
Congrats bootleg. Way to get this party started. Tom, those are some awesome bucks. Can't wait to draw Iowa next year.
Nice work bootleg! Nice bucks everyone. I won't check my cams til I hunt the area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Put some some more cams out, will probably checking other ones in the next week or so. Season starts October 1st for me, I can't wait.
Hi folks, sorry I haven't been on much or ant for that matter. I've been swamped with work trying to end our fiscal year Oct. 1st. Anyway, this will be my 5th year doing the contest. My team has won it twice and came in 2nd the 3rd year. Last year I got put on a not so great team. Blah. I'm a serious hunter I hunt all season from start to finish. I'm good for a doe every year. Last was the 1st year I didn't contribute a buck. It's my choosing though. I passes and passed and passed until I just ran out of season. I'll be hunting both Texas and Oklahoma starting Oct. 1st. I'm ready got cams out year round, just waiting to hand out dirt naps..
