My Brother in law told me that he wants to get into archery to extend the amount of time he can hunt. The only problem is that he's 6'7 and has a 33 inch draw length.
I know most hunting bows only go back to 30, with a few going to 32. Will a 32 inch draw with a long D loop work, and if so, what 32 inch bows would you recommend for a beginner?? Thanks!

I'm sure u could make it work, that being said I hope his arms not bent to hard and most likely going to be pulling his head towards the string if short which all leads to be more prone for less exact repeatability . Prob can be done though, good luck !

At 6'7" I would expect him to have some longer fingers, he might be able to eat up some of the length with a long release also.

    Isn't the z7magnum a long draw bow?

Nah, only goes to 30. And yes, it will be. He's 6'7 and 315lbs. Power lifter. So he'll pull 70lbs easy. He'll go through and through anything.

32 seems to be the end on most bow companies. I shoot a bowtech experience. It is 32. I would make sure he is getting help from an experienced bow shop who can adapt a few things to help him. D loop can add some....should get him closer.

Thanks for the input! Right now I'm just trying to list as many different 32 inch bows as I can so he can find one and try it out.

At 6'7 the deer might mistake him for a tree, so at least he can save some money on stands.

You can get an Xpedition Perfexion in a 32.5" draw length and it has adjustable limb stops. With a release that has the head forward of the trigger I'd bet this would work for him.

I had seen that it had a long draw. This will be his first ever bow, so I think he'll probably want something not as high end, but I'll let him know! Thanks!

PSE used to make long draw bows...not sure anymore. I'm in a Bowtech Boss at 31.5".

I have this issue. I have a 36" draw but a month ago I bought the PSE Beast EXT that goes to 33" the other 3inches i extended the release to its full length. I opened all the boxes to find the one that extended the most.

It's not cheap but I figured it was an investment and it would have a high resale value if I decided I didn't like archery. (Which ended up not being the case).

You could go the used route. I picked up one with the shorter draw cams for $600.00 back in May.

with out getting in to a bow over a grand for the bow as a long draw bow. its gonna be tough. but the bows you do find with the 32 DL I know Darton has some that will go longer than 31. Yes a long D loop will help stretch him out but make sure to put a kisser on there also so he gets a consistent anchor as he leans in to the string.

G5 Prime started making the 35'' ATA Rival LD last year for Long Draw lengths. Fantastic bow.

    I'm 6'4'' with a 31 1/2 inches draw.

I have shot bows with 30 inches draw by adding a longer D-loop and it works fine. Only down side I found is that sometimes after the shot the D-loop kinda swings around the string, so I have to untwist it before the next arrow.

I shoot Bear Anarchy at 31'', but I would not recommend since I've had limbs delamination problems lately (Twice...)

    Hoyt has a 32''draw
Bear has 32'' draw as well
and PSE had The Freak.. which was up to 33'' but not sure if they still make them.

    good luck

The beast is good, super smooth and quiet. No vibration when fired, I love it
