Thanks for bumping this. Second year donating - As long as you keep posting this I will contribute as I am able. Good luck with your goal - You should make it in no time!
Lets go! Light it up! Johnny is going to run a marathon (that's over 26 miles folks!) with a freaking pacemaker for these kids!! Surely we can help him reach his funding goal. Does anyone work for a large corporation that might consider matching some funds?
I challenge Bowhunt or Die crew to each chip in atleast $5 or $10....that'd quickly garner over $100 for him.....just sayin.
Thanks, Matt,.... and thank you so much for the generous donation! I can't tell you how much this means to everyone here. You are all proving what a great group of guys frequent this forum.
Thank you so much, Kristen! You didn't have to give anything, but you did and that says a LOT. Thank you again. I truly appreciate it and the kids here at St. Jude do too.
Thanks Aaron! I appreciate the donation, brother! Since you work here with me I don't have to tell you what it means!
Rich, you didn't say anything so I'm not sure you want to be thanked publicly, but I wanted to say thank you for the donation. You folks are amazing! Thank you again!
No problem. The least I can do for the commitment you have made. I give a monthly gift already. I would rather give when they ask for it and take away nothing more than a good feeling than have to go there and face the heartache and fight that those kids have to face. God bless you for what you are doing.
Brandon - Thank you very much for the donation. I read the note that you left on the donation site. I am very familiar with what you are going through right now and also how you feel about this. I lost my dad in 1989 and my brother in 2008, both to cancer. That is bad enough, but when you see these little kids - some who can't even walk yet - fighting a fight that would terrify the biggest, baddest, strongest man on these forums, it's about enough to make you cry. You can't cry, of course. At least not in front of them. You can drop down on one knee, take them by the hand, look them in the eye with a smile on your face and tell them how pretty they are or how good they look, just to encourage them and to try to help them have as good a day as they can under the circumstances. This became more personal for me last year. The year before (2014) my daughter's boyfriend, who was 17 at the time, was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare but very serious type of soft tissue cancer. He became a patient here at St. Jude and I saw him quite often. He would stop in and visit me all the time when he was here for his appointments. It broke my heart to watch him slowly deteriorate and to see the fear in his eyes: A fear that no one that young should have to experience. He lost his battle last year. The hardest part of all was having a conversation with a teenager who knew he was going to die soon. I always managed to hold it together when I was face to face with him, but more than once after he left I had to walk to the back of the office where no one could see and regain my composure. Yeah, I cried a few times. I'm not ashamed of that. Anyway, enough about that. Thank you again for the donation. A lot of people besides me appreciate it!
Well that happened fast. Thanks in large part to the efforts and generosity of some of the members on this forum, I passed my goal of $1500. Right now it's sitting at $1505. That is incredible and I can't tell you what it means to me and to these kids. Thanks so much to Christine, fletch920, trial153, Hillbilly Jedi, elkguide, Oly44, tynimiller, MnHunterr, drenman, PinkPony, aaron21 and Rich71. You folks are awesome! I'm pretty sure I didn't miss anyone, but if I did please know that it wasn't intentional. It got a little confusing trying to figure out who was who on the donation page since some of you put your real names. It was made more difficult by donations from some folks from the forum where trial153 shared the link. I didn't have the first clue who they were, but they really came through also. This whole episode has really reinforced my belief that the hunting community is made up of the greatest people in the world. I am truly humbled by your generosity. Thank you all again.
