Unintentionally, I was dialing in my new Parker using a 1 year old trufire release and it failed on me, couldnt even find all the pieces it just busted. Got myself in the lip pretty good I was just glad my arrow ended up in the ground safely in front of me not in who knows where. Anyway, anyone think trufire will replace or credit me for a new one by any chance, or is this why I need to spend more on my gear? (easier said than done, I'm on a strict budget and would rather hunt with "entry level" gear than not hunt at all)
I like TruFire and want to like TruFire even more but I had one fail on me as well. I started using it in April '15 and around Aug '15 I punched myself. I bought one for me and my son. He only pulls 48# and has had no problems, don't know if that's the difference or not. I sent mine back to TF and they reworked it and I started drawing a little different. At about 3/4 draw I sent an arrow into the neighbors lawn then I sent one into the dirt about 20' in front of me. Bought a Scott Little Bitty Goose which is a single caliper. I haven't had any problems out of it but did switch to a Stan JustX this past June. I just have trouble trusting any caliper style any more. I did get the goose out a couple of days ago and noticed the nylon strap connecting to the release head had some weird wear on it at the head and at the metal clasp back at the wrist strap. I'd hate for that thing to break.
The release didn't brake at the trigger it broke where it connects to the wrist strap, seemingly an important area of strength for a release.
I have had the same true fire release since 2005. I don't notice any signs of wear and tear but anything specifically I should look for?
nope, mine looked good to go, shot probably 20 arrows then just popped off and pieces went everywhere
I've been shooting with a Trufire Hurricane release for about 9 years with no issues. I also have a back-up release.
Better now than when you're in the stand. Tough call on if they'll replace it. Their website says lifetime warranty on mechanical parts of the actual release and one year warranty on the release strap. All you can do is give them a call.
Tru fire has a lifetime warranty. I had a release last year where the it would go off as soon as I put pressure on it. So I called them up and they told me to send it in and they fix it or replace it. I would say less than two weeks I had it back they fixed. The release was even ten years old and they still did it great costumer service
I had a tru fire hardcore that would fail as I was drawing back and smacked myself in the face, they sent me a new one for the faulty one. I use the tru fire smoke now and have had no issues with it
Good lesson here for the youngsters on drawing. I've corrected my son twice on drawing when he had his arrow aimed up to high. I told him if that failed his arrow would go along way. He's done pretty well since.
