Just to be clear I wouldn't shoot a doe if you have a buck patterned and are sitting in that stand but the patterns change after the first week or so. As of right now I don't have a big buck patterned so I'll be taking a doe when I'm sitting on a field stand which should be right away. There are a couple stands where I wouldn't shoot a doe but think I'll be staying away from those early on.

What are the benefits of taking a doe before a buck as far as the competition goes?

I have to take 2 does before a buck or I lose my permission to hunt these 2 farms this is something set in stone the farmer wants done so even if I have a giant in front of me I can't pull the trigger unless 2 does have been killed it's in the agreement I signed with the farmer but i think it'll actully be good cause I'll prob pass on deer I want to shoot and get a chance at them the next season when there older and bigger.

Sorry boys I work night shifts so if I'm not sleeping I'm running bear baits all day or fishing for something with teeth. I check the site once maybe twice a day

Sorry everyone, I'm here and checking in. The last two weeks have been extremely busy as I had a horse very ill with an infection in her leg. So when I am not working - pretty much tending to her.

But, I've also been doing "an arrow a day" challenge on Instagram for the month of August. Just turned my bow up another 3# (which I guess doesn't seem like much, but it is to me).

As for me, I hunt Pennsylvania. Have yet to get a deer with my bow (sorry) - but have had opportunities. The property I hunt is 100 acres and we have sole hunting rights. However, the back side of the property is another story. They actually stole our one tree stand during spring turkey season. Hoping they don't plan on ruining my hunt like they did last year. Will be putting cameras out in a few places to see whats around. We don't do much of that now since it's proven itself year after year.

I know we still have missing people (and time for them) - but lets start throwing out name ideas. I'd be willing to toss together a banner/icon if anyone would want one. Nothing fancy, but it'll work if no one else can do one.

I saw a few pages back of Antlers Anonymous - I kind of like that. Though, was it used recently?

This is my first year so I have no idea if it has been used before. Sounds like you just volunteered for the job to make a banner when we have a name though.

For some reason I'm thinking Justin was pretty good at that kind of thing, too....but talking of which, where is he?

I'm here! Apparently Fitz left me out of the loop that he was picking teams. I should ban him. :admin:

Hopefully I'll be able to contribute a point or two this fall.

im the worst name picker there is. My recent fantasy football team names reflect that.

Team name makes no difference to me so I'm cool with whatever is chosen. I'm just looking forward to the hunting part of things and the camaraderie of the contest.

Fair enough. Seems like most people don't mind the name Antlers Anonymous. Any objections?

Also I vote Justin as captain. He's an admin so i figure that's qualification enough for me.

Justin can have my vote for team captain, also. If he doesn't mind.
