Last year I decided to upgrade to a QAD HDX arrow rest. I was very excited about shooting with zero interference, but after shooting for a while I noticed wear marks on my rest felt and became frustrated. I thought maybe I just needed to move the nocking point up, but after messing with it for a while I couldn't get it is clear. I was afraid the rest wasn't falling fast enough, so today I decided to take some slow motion video of it and the attached pictures are the result. It appears the arrow flexes all the way down to the shelf which would explain why the rest is wearing. My question is, is this a tuning issue or is the spine too flexible? I am shooting a 30.5" draw length 70# Diamond Outlaw. The Arrow is a Read Head Carbon Max2 with 350 spine. According to the charts I look up, that spine should be stiff enough. What do you guys think? Do you have any suggestions for a good arrow with a stiffer spine if you think that's what I need? Thank you!
To me its looks like the nock point is high and the timing on the rest is off. Have you been to a pro shop or just doing the work yourself?
I had it at a pro shop when it was originally installed. It was after that I noticed it was wearing. At that point I started researching and messing with it myself. The rest timing goes to full cock in the last inch(ish) of my draw.
The very first problem you have is your way under spined. Address that, then work on retiming the rest and adjusting your nock hight. You have two problem that are exacerbating each other. First being underspined you have excess flexing of the shaft and second is shooting a single cam bow with very uneven nock travel. Keep that in mind when you adjust your timing. You want to support the arrow as long as possible with out a clearance issue.

That makes sense! I will get some stiffer spines, do you have any suggestions on arrows? I was just looking at the Carbon Express Mayhem it looks like their 350 cover my needs based on the chart. Far right is 31" arrow, which I would likely need. The other one I was looking at was the Gold Tip Hunter XT with 250 spine. From the looks of it ...I think you can cut your arrows back at least 1/2 inch maybe even an inch. I would do that then use a .300 spine with either 100 or even 125 grain head. I don't think you need .250 spine at 70 pounds with that bow. So cut them back an inch, you will stiffen up slightly and move up to a.300 spined arrow. From that point you can make any adjustment you need to your rest and nocking point.
The Diamond Outlaw has a 330 IBO a 300 spine should work OK. You may want to shorten your arrows a little. Trial is on the money. Most all spine charts would have you between .280-.320, never as high as 350. I think if you stayed at 30.5 and went with a 125g tip you might want to see how a .270 tunes for you but like trial said 30" with 100g tip on a .300 should be a nice change.

Your best bet for shooting bull heads ect is buying 3 or 4 full length shafts in 250 and set them up just for the bullheads. You can buy arrows individually from some place like Lancaster.
I received my Gold Tip Pro Hunters today. They have the GTO nock on them which is great for practice but I use lumenocks when hunting. Does the bushing and nock pull out? I tried pulling on it and it didn't budge (which in a way is good). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
