Just a thought something to try.

I mentioned it in another post but I think it is an idea to kick around. Who can pledge to go at least 1 hunt this fall without touching the cell phone. Not saying not bring it with in case of emergency but just try to go a whole hunt without it.

 

I do it every year every hunt the only reason I made the live from the tree stand thread is to to what people did during there hunt you don't necessaraly have to be in the tree stand at the time of the post I just thought it would be fun because people seemed to enjoy it last year.

 

I do it all the time. When I hunt, I hunt. This is not a challenge at all, but rather the norm.

 

My cell phone is my watch and my camera.

 

I'm not saying I don't use it at all but it is mainly so the wife can contact me if there is an emergency.

 

I am not ripping or even against it live from the stand, and to each their own everybody hunts different. Just think that for some that try it they might see something that they might have missed.

 

I won't even pretend, I probably can't. It helps me to pass the time.

I think the live from the stand thread creates a connection for people. They want to share what they're excited about.
I do agree though that it would be good for people to disconnect and just enjoy what surrounds them. The woods for me is a major stress relief, being with nature is where I'm most comfortable. Though I do pick up my phone to read from time to time when i sit all day.

 

I find if I can shut it off for a few days, I feel much more attached to my hunts. Ill take the pledge.

 

I'm in! I know from past experience (my father missing out on an opportunity at a 150 inch.) that it can only be good.

 

Well my smart phone broke, so now im back to my "dumb" phone , so all I can really use it for is to check the time and maybe text somebody if I really get bored. So Im in too.

 

Wont happen, I usually text my dad periodically to see if he seen anything as I'm almost always hunting with him. Other than that, its my clock and camera just in case.

I don't get service in my treestand location unfortunately so that's how all of my hunts are.

 

I will pledge not to look at my phone for a whole hunt.

So who can do an all day sit and not touch their phone? That would be tough

 

I do it every time,yes I still have it incase I have an emergency but I turn it off as soon as I get to the woods.Unless I shoot a deer,then I get it out to take pics etc.

I can guarantee you this... I pledge I will accidentally forget my phone for more than one hunt, and I'll probably lose it for a few too. Happens every year.

 

I do agree with the idea though. I have been wanting to get a compass and start wearing a watch again. If I can tell the time and have a compass then I don't need it for much more. Pics maybe after the kill.

 

Put in on airplane mode, then it really is just a watch and a camera.
