Bill, -you should have no problem finding iso, even walmart most likely has, but plenty of outdoor hiking/camping shops -As Christine said, any vehicle can make it to camp (you can see highway 24 from camp). 4WD not as important as ground clearance the farther you venture up roads, some of the pot holes are impressive, but a small car can still get you to many good starting points for hunting -Probably best to let Will answer regarding his camp plans...and yes it's been everyone pitch in some cash to cover food/fuel(generator, heaters, grill)/camp costs. -I've never had problems with any bugs...just see the occasional fly or bee I'm reaching out today to see who's really serious from my group on attending again. My good buddy who goes with us sold his enclosed trailer that we always use...when I asked why...because he bought a camper My buddies are getting soft... I'm always craving the elk mountains in Sept...looking forward to it!

There is a Walmart about 45 minutes from camp...about 15 minutes from Vail (in Wolcott). I believe the gas station in Minturn sells licenses. The mountains are amazingly green with still a heap on snow on the tops. The elk are spending most of the dat above timber line, par usual this time of year. Any car will do...especially Toyota forerunners! We gave all of our bugs to Kansas Yes, everyone help pick in for camp supplies, which I will pick up and have in camp when you get here. Still not sure about Rex Dave and Dan suck.....Break a leg! Especially since it looks like I may need to fly out. Will, if you need a hand setting up let me know (pm), my schedule is flexible and is be glad to help...it may also give me a bit more time to acclimate to the elevation.
Bill, If you give flight details, we may be able to help out. We're all pretty good about getting people to and from the airport. No sense in renting a car if it's just going to sit there. I was planning on setting up the camp the weekend before......
I won't add to the list as we'll have our own camp set up next door to you all. It looks like it may be our same IL group that came out last year. One buddy will be mule deer only. My understanding is that the TX boys are coming a week earlier this year...and staying in Leadville...would like to catch up with Waid and Steve before they head out! This 100+ degree heat advisory crap has me craving the Sept Elk Mountains! I've been shooting a couple arrows daily...and after nursing a heel injury I'm picking the workouts back up. Will...is Rob still attending? Rex is the camp security...hope he makes it

10-4. Once I have those details I'll pm you or post here...and we can figure out what works... Since I travel a good bit basically the travel is air, car and if need be, hotel points, which is what gives me some flexibility. Maybe not, set up the camp the week before flexible, but some flexibility.
Hi friends. I guess the Camp is over on September 24th, right? I hope to be there on Friday 16, in the afternoon. Do you think I´ll have time enough to be back to the airport on Monday 26 or maybe is better to have a day more untill Tuesday 27. (If I want to go back to Spain hehehe) If any help is needed I could try being there a day earlier. I also thought about renting a cheap car to get the camp. Thanks.
A ride could be arranged for you if you want. People normally start leaving either Saturday or Sunday. You would have plenty of time to get to the airport by Monday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Is it early enough to be in the camp on Saturday? or better to be there on Friday? maybe all the hunters will be there on friday, if someone gets me in the camp I dont want he is late cause my fault
Oscar, the airport is roughly 2-1/2 hours away from our camp location. It would be better to get here a day or two early. Most people are in camp by Friday night. If you do decide to fly on Saturday, let us know. Someone might be on their way and can pick you up.

The elk camp sounds awesome, guys. But here's a question: what happens IF you connect on one? Is there a large freezer in a nearby town? How many coolers does a bull elk fill?
Arrowhead, I have a second home 40 minutes down the road from Camp. I have freezers there for when and if.... I went out and did some scouting this weekend. I saw six elk happily bedded down above timberline. If you're driving in, bring a cot and sleeping bag. If you're flying in, I can take care of your-just bring your personal gear. Yes, DIA is 2.5 hours away. Vail is like 35 minutes.
