Some would say that if you make your living off the hunting industry and you are a public figure you have the responsibility to make certain that you follow the rules especially game laws.
Hmm yeah this list to me is full of guys who peddle brands and go hunt managed outfitted guided stand locations to shoot big deer on video so we go buy whatever they're using. I know its old school but how about Fred Bear? Maybe Chuck Adams? I much prefer the guys who go out and do it themselves on public or property they manage. Like say the Drurys
You can't include Fred Bear in a "7 Living Legends..." article because, he uh, doesn't qualify for the living part .
While the list does invite some controversy it did also make me think about those in my life that have contributed, in some aspect, to making me a (better) hunter. I might not make it to seven and everyone might not see them as legends but it was a good trip down memory lane.
Yes this list is a load of crap I can't believe one of the all time real legends isn't on the list where's chuck Adam's and those guys ?
Man... I get the legend part of hunting. I get it, all these guys do great things whether it's on a outfitter or on there own but to be totally honest my greatest role models are the ones I hunt with. We've done some truly amazing things whether it's a crazy good shot, or a poor shot and tracking until we find em all on our own. I truly enjoy a couple of shows out there but we all have to pay bills and if at any time during a video or show the "sales/promoting gets a little thick I'm out. To me it just seems unnatural or phony
I enjoy Greg Miller and Don Higgins. Not a fan of Brenda Valentine with the crap in IL and AK she was involved in.
I've learned a few tactics along the way but it's mostly for entertainment. I don't think you have to learn something from it to enjoy it.
Myles Keller, Andra D'Acquisto, Adam Hays, or Stan Potts. Hard to narrow down to 7 but Andrae's LW invention has improved my hunting more than some deer grunt call. What about Toxey Haas?
Knight n Hale n Fred Eichler I'll give you but the real legends are all dead. Fred Bear, Paul Schafer, Howard Hill, John Browning, etc. I can go on for weeks. And the one guy should be on the living list is Chuck Adams for his accomplishments. Michael Waddell? A good turkey caller yes, legend absolutely not. Someone w very limited knowledge wrote the article imo
I think the only ones I have learned anything from are Bill Winke and the Heartland Bowhunter crew. Everything else is more or less unbearable to watch.
Uh whoops...I see your point there...well I get Chuck Adams on my list still...I'm pretty sure he's still alive.
She will he at the Bass Pro Shop Grand Opening here in Chattanooga this weekend. Can't wait til I get to meet her again.
What about the Wensels for living legends? Ray Eye? I think he calls too much but he's been a positive influence. How bout even Shockey? His doing things sporting is up my alley. How bout Roy Grimes? He's the biologist who invented NASP. It was intended to introduce archery to school age kids, and many have become a fan of archery n thus Bowhunting because of him. More kids participate in NASP than in Little League baseball. How bout Judd Cooney n his accomplishments? Many of these folks aren't on TV n that's prob the issue. The person writing the article is fallen for TV hype. Theres so many more deserving than some listed.
