Does everybody have high end bows?

I bought my Bear Traxx for $600 RTH out the door. I saved $150 on it. Not top of the line but has great specs for the price. I'll probably be buying an Xpedition, Elite or an Obsession the end of this year or next year. It will be my first high end bow and probably my last for a long time. Figured I'd treat myself before we have another child and I'm always broke.

I had my bear legion up until this year and that one was 450

 

I've hunted the last 3 years with a pse fire flite 33 that I got off Craigslist. It does the job. This year, I have the means and have been shooting bows and i'm going to get the bowtech prodigy because that's what I want and the ex wife can't tell me no now. The pse will get passed on to a young archer and the tradition continue.

 

My Mathews No Cam was my first high end bow for me last year. The only reason I was able to get it was because I went to the casino and ended up winning $1440.00 I cashed out right there and then and left. The next day I was at the pro shop looking at bows. I have since sold my No Cam earlier this year to get the Halon 6. If it wasn't for me winning at the casino I'd probably be shooting a used Mathews bow in the 400-500 range which are just as good.

 

Now that's the definition of taking your ball and going to the house!!! congrats.

 

My first bow was from Craigslist (PSE Mach 4) for $50 just to get a "feel" for shooting a bow. The first one I bought new (2014 PSE Surge) was a joy and did the job wonderfully. I went to a pro shop and shot a brand new discontinued PSE DNA SP earlier this year and spent less on it than I did the Surge. I'm a firm believer in staying within my budget. Fortunately, it was the wife's budget this last time. I work and hunt primarily two different states, so I already have a bow in each location to keep from having to check one at the airport and/or shipping one back and forth.

 

It still is.
My Hoyt set up was over $1000 back in 2007, and I still love it. Shoots like a dream, and I wouldn't trade it for a brand new one.

 

I've got a Bighorn from the 80s I still sometimes use. Think that was 300 than.

 

I've killed many deer with my mission riot, got the job done just as well as my elite.

 

I killed a deer last year with my 15 year old Buckmaster G2!!

Doesn't need to be top of the line for me.

But I just upgraded to a Bowtech Carbon Knighg ($550).

 

I still shoot my PSE fire flight I bought when cabelas opened some 8 years ago. Bought it as a RTS package. I did upgrade the rest to a qad ultra rest and the sight to a IQ 5 pin.

 

I shoot a 7 year old Parker I bought while in grad school. It shoots well and I like it enough that I haven't felt the need to get another bow. There are some damn nice bows out there in the $500 range. Shoot what makes you happy.

 

No high end bow for me........not yet any way.Shooting a Bear Attitude, $400 RTH. I will likely be putting some better stuff on it though.

 

I remember the G2 from back in the day! I almost bought one but ended up getting a Reflex when they were still around.

 

Picked up Bowtech Btx this year. Have been using Bowtech since I got serious about archery. The market today I don't think there are low end priced bows they all seem to be pretty expensive. Only way to get a good deal is find somebody who is hurting for cash and has the bow you want. Otherwise got to buck up. Bought mine from a dealer. Gave very small discount for paying cash.

 

My first compound bow was a hand me down that was 15 or 20 years old when I got it. That old bow killed a pile of deer. I know several guys including myself that also shoot and regularly kill deer with old beat up recurves. My current compound is a $300 Bear Attitude that is now a couple years old. Other than an upgraded sight it is basically stock and I have killed quite a few deer with it the past few years. Any entry level name brand bow will get the job done, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

 

My first bow was 15 years old and 3in too short in draw length replaced it when a limb cracked in a car accident. The hardest part about upgrading was learning to shoot with a proper draw length

 

I started out with a little bear bow my dad got me. I never really got into until years down the road but I found the addiction and love it. I bought my first bow from Stanley Hipps the maker of Hipps targets. He sold me Hoyt 17 years ago for $450. Last year I bought my second bow, a Hoyt Nitrum 30 set up with a trophy ridge single pin. Hoping to bag my first elk this year with it. I bagged my first archery turkey this year.

 

I shot a Bowtech Carbon Knight the first 2 1/2 years bow hunting. I wanted something nicer so I worked some OT and save the money. My CK did absolutely everything I needed it to do. Shot 2 nice bucks and about 6 turkey with it. The only reason I upgraded was because Bowtech released the BTX-28. The shorter draw length allows me to get more out of a bow rather than all the bows rated at a 31 inch draw length.

If your bow does everything you need it to do, no need to upgrade. I didn't need to upgrade. I just wanted something else. IMO, the man makes the bow, not the other way around. People can buy all the nice stuff they want, but if you don't know how to shoot it or use it, it's worthless.

 

My first bow was a $99.00 bear combo came with everyting but arrows and a release . I took quit a few deer b4 up grading to a mathews feather lite .now have a mathews z2.The bear combo is still probably the most consistant out of the 3.$$$$$$$ dont mean it shoots better.Just the tuning.
