Been having knee problems lately that has been really impacting how much I can run. It bothers me mostly when I just stand up after sitting, but I can usually walk or run it off. Once I run for about 5 minutes the pain goes away until I stop. Tried one of those compression knee braces yesterday and that actually helped quite a bit, but I'm going to have to bit the bullet and get it checked out.

I'd start icing it after every run and at night when it is sore. Could be as simple as eliminating a pocket of swelling.

Started my workout out with a 6.5 minute cardio set. 10 pushups. 10 bodyweight squats. 4 pullups. No rest. Repeat for 10 sets with no rest. Pretty good short set to start my workout.

Time to start training again. Had a hernia repair this winter and took it real easy. Only problem is I like to eat the same as when I am powerlifting and I gained about 40 lbs. I'm down 25 just by changing my diet and am steady losing about a pound a day. Feel good. Now to find a new gym....

After my trip to Mexico I need to get on a strict schedule with my lifting and start incorporating more free weights instead of just dumbbells and machines. Right now I do follow the Back/Bi chest/tri shoulders/legs schedule kind of... But my exercises are kind of all over the place. Anyone have a "beginners" schedule/routine? Been looking at some sort of 5x5 plan.

I have gone from 3 sets of 8 40lb dumbbell bench to 3 sets of 8 55lb dumbbells in just over a month. Happy with the progress I've been making.

Went backpacking yesterday since we had a day off from school. I hiked about six miles up and back. Not sure about the elevation change, but I did find some promising places that I think I could get an elk out of before it spoils. Pack was about 30#s. Best part was waking up this morning and breathing in that fresh mountain air.

Thought I would do a halfway there update.

    Anyhow right now I can do 65 push-ups and 15 chin-ups.

My one mile time is 5 minutes 28 seconds,I had it down to 5 minutes 16 seconds but when I hurt my knee I had to take 6 days off so it kinda set me back.

And now my running shoes gave out Thursday (sole came off) it will probably be at least 3 days until I get another pair so that sucks.

I've lost 35# and 4"+ off the waist. Did 5 miles today with 72# in the pack (92# for 2 miles on Friday).

I added some strength training a while back so the pounds aren't falling away like they were.

I've lost 20 pounds in 10 weeks. The weight lost has slowed down since I started working out... I've been very consistent on the diet, so I'm hoping I'm building muscle mass. 2-3 workouts a week. I can really tell a difference in my strength and stamina after 2 months of working out. I'm having surgery May 11 and won't be able to lift anything for a month. I'll do all the cardio I can and hope I don't lose everything I've built up. The workouts paid off during turkey season.... I've worn a lot of shoe leather and help up really well. I really noticed the difference the 4 days I hunted in the mountains.... I'd have really struggled before.

It's kinda odd for me because while everybody else is trying to lose weight while I'm trying to gain weight.

Took me almost a month but almost got 17 pullups in a row today. 30 days and only added about 1-2. Still have a goal of 20 by June 1. I've lost 4 lbs this month.

Took the trip to Mexico and took 2 weeks off from the gym. Finally got back at it yesterday. Surprisingly I've only gained 3lbs since I was last in the gym after a week in Mexico and 2 weeks of no diet and lots of beer.

Still can't run on the treadmill because of a shooting pain... I guess the elliptical will be fine as I'm focusing more on building muscle than losing fat.

    Happy lifting/exercising friends.

After I started running in Hoka I will not buy anything else. Best shoe I ever had.

Well I kinda passed my goal.

My one mile time is 4.41 minutes so I reached and passed that goal.

However I got stuck at 18 pull-ups and couldn't seem to pass it.

Push-ups were a success as I got up to 115.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my "progress",even if I wasn't able to pass my pull-up goal.
