I just put the Nikon ProStaff with the bdc reticle on my Rem. 7 mm mag and I really like it. Of course, anything is an upgrade from the old Tasco that was on there. With the ProStaff the sight picture is nice and clear, but I have yet to see how the bdc reticle works. I have only sighted in at 100 yards. This weekend I will get out and try 200. I did get mine used on Ebay, so I saved about $80 off the cost of a new one.

I'd recommend the Vortex as well.

I have both and I would only buy the Vortex again.

I have just purchased a vortex PST front focal plane and have been very pleased with the clarity and operation of the scope. I also have a Leupold VX3 that I like very much. I would say that they are both comparable as far as glass is concerned. The warranties are similar and the companies both stand behind their product. I evaluated a Nikon before purchasing the vortex but wound up with the vortex because it had the features that I wanted in the scope configuration I was looking for. I felt the glass was similar as I was looking at the M series of Nikons. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the options you are looking at if you are comparing the apples and apples versions that compare to the VX3's

The VX3 is made by Leupold... Is there supposed to be a comma or is it a typo?
Both the Leupold and Vortex run circles around the Nikon. Vortex will be a better bang for your buck, but a VX3 is probably a higher grade scope and probably twice the cost

I bought a Nikon Prostaff 4.5X18 with the BDC reticle for my 25.06. Haven't mounted it yet, but will do so shortly after turkey season ends. I had a basic duplex 3X9X40, so this will be a tremendous upgrade for me.
