One of the most aggravating counties to hunt if you are a bowhunter...big deer but too many dogs "chasing fox/coyotes" during bow season.
I'm up in Fairfax 2015 Matthews Z2 28in draw at 60lbs with truglo Rival Hunter sights Carbon Express with Montecs Ripcord cord red rest USMC Semper Fi Remingtion 887 and 770 Marlin 30-30
Fredericksburg VA Bow only It's been a interesting year. I took a Neighborhood kid on as a first time hunter and have been attempting to get him a shot/first deer. I have three hunts left maybe tag soup this year for me and him LOL. I did have a shooter slip by me and have passed on a multitude of doe and small bucks. The kid froze up on his 20 yard chance (deer fever) we have three more hunts to get it done.I will be heading to AZ for a archery Mule deer hunt in December
My inlaws are over there and I have a friend who hunts somewhere over there, I'll be there new years for a hunt.
cool...you will get used to the hounds, just have to lead the deer a bit to hit em with the bow!! Just kidding!!
Didn't know which VA thread to post in so I chose this one since it was the most current. I'm stationed at Fort AP Hill and I'm just getting into bowhunting. I've hunted off and on throughout my life but never too seriously. Now that my 8 year old daughter is interested in archery I've decided to get back into it and loving it. I'll wait until next season to start bowhunting and use this time to practice and get some gear together.
If anyone is in to shed hunting, a buddy just started a facebook group Virginia Shed Hunters. If interested request to join and we will add you. Neat to see local guys finds so we know when they start dropping and to see the VA studs that are out there.
