I like single syllable names. The pups learn them faster and when commanding it's just easier.

Jack, Doc, Dirt, Rock, Clyde for male
Tess, Jazz, Sioux, Pi for female

I had the chance to get a silver lab earlier this year but passed. wished woulda got one now but already have 2 dogs. Good looking pups though.

I've only ever owned males and I suck at settling on names so usually let someone else do it ha. Here's what I've had
Dusty, Jake, Riley, Cinch, Charlie, and the one I have now

    Brody

I had never heard of "silver" labs before so I did some googling...the following link is just one of many similar articles I found saying they are not pure breds and should not be advertised/sold as such:

    The Truth Behind Silver Labradors

I'm not a dog breed Nazi so I don't care what you buy. Just wanted to make sure you were buyer beware aware.
That being said; those are good looking pups, and I always like to name my dogs old man names, like George, Larry, Zeke...the name Roscoe sounds right for a gun dog.

My labs have always been simple names.

    Sam, Max and Jake.

This is LEO. He is a 11 month old chocolate, yes chocolate, black lab. Great dog so far. A lot of energy and loves finding sheds already.

Like the names Chet and Ike. Chet reminded me of Chet from the movie Weird Science. LMAO, Check out so Chet clips if you have never seen it. Ike reminds me of "I like Ike" Dwight D. Eisenhower which is very fitting being he is from Kansas.

We have been doing NASHDA hunt tests with Koda for a few years now (besides hunting wild sheds) and she acquired her Junior Shed Dog Title in August! Sure makes a guy proud knowing I trained her myself! I cant take too much credit though, she is a FAST learner and has a passion for finding antlers!

Was looking into getting a lab in the next few years and trying to train it for sheds. For you guys that have shed dogs how often will they pick up a shed that you didn't see and bring it? Is it 2/1 or how often? Just curious

leo shed.jpg My dog just found his first shed. He was 100 feet ahead of me and up the field. He started pawing the ground and trying to pick it up. At the time I did not know what he was doing but as I got closer he was able to run off with the shed in his mouth. Needless to say I fed him every treat I had with me and gave him a lot of praise. I can say with all certainty I would not have found this shed without my dog on this day.
In the coming weeks it will be interesting to see if he continues on this path of success. He loves chewing on sheds at home. So far Rack Wax has been the key in training my dog and I would recommend it if you have a dog your trying to train to find sheds.

This wild guys name is Bruce. He's a little over 2 years old and crazy as can be. He does love antlers though.

Yea Laying out in the WIDE OPEN! We had spent every spare moment we had for 5 weeks straight trying to find that side! Of course I'd been stomping through all the thickest willows and cattails I could find thinking a big ba$tard like that wouldn't be out in the wide open too much. But that evening on our way out to a slough, the dog sniffed it out! THANK God!!!! I was tired of looking for that match!
    That shed grossed about 74".
