Merry Christmas everyone! If you're still hunting this season, good luck and be safe.

Hey guys just checking in, hope everyone had a good Christmas. It has been so hot in my neck of the woods I haven’t even hunted in the last few weeks. It was 80 degrees here for Christmas. It has been hot and humid every day for about the past month. This is the hottest hunting season I can ever remember. I have until the end of Jan so hopefully it will cool down some and I can get at least a doe for my freezer and some more points on the board.

I'm still hunting. Or will be if it ever stops raining. Lots of roads closed here in central Illinois from high water.

IL DNR called me earlier this week to inform me that my buck tested positive for CWD. This is the 3rd buck that I've killed that has tested positive since '09. Trying to decide what to do with the meat.

Wow. That sux. I've never had to deal with that. Is it not safe to eat now? Do you have to dispose of it any certain way?
    What county was that in?

McHenry county in far Northern IL. I'll have to post the pics of the bucks I've gotten that have tested positive. 2 of the 3 were pushing does hard. As for the meat, I know someone who wants it. He never has any of his deer tested anyways. I'm still trying to decide if I even want him to have it or just turn it over to the DNR to destroy it in an incinerator (again). Trying to get out after work this week with the bow to get a deer for the freezer as I gave my doe to my parents. If I don't get one with the bow by end of season I'll be taking some back from them!

Killed a spike last night, but I forgot to take a pic before we skinned him. It was 70 degrees here in LA. I got a pic with just the head, so I'll have to see if that is good enough. He's just a spike, buck still some points.

Just saw my buck was not listed on our final score. Not sure we still would've been in 3rd with those points. Best of luck next year guys.

Guys i will have to apologize on my buck not getting counted. I forgot you had to have 2 pics... I was 200 miles away from the horns before I realized I only had one pic. Just wish they would run the contest till all bowhunting seasons were over. We still have till the end of February here in Arkansas. I could have made up for my screw up. It was a fun year though to say the least.
