So an important note here...do NOT shave or buzz your moustache....let it grow and tame it with wax....it's the worst part of growing facial hair, but it is the coolest part, and will get you the most compliments....

Moustache rides for a quarter (for the pretty ladies of course) . The ladies really do love that.

Why not trim it, why is it the worst part of growing facial hair and why is it the coolest part?
I don't plan on letting it grow to the point I have trouble with it curling over my lip and into my mouth. I already trimmed the corners twice because they were sticking the corners of my mouth. Some of mine almost grow on my lips.

My biggest problem with having a longer moustache is kept getting in my mouth and was annoying. Used wax every once in awhile but that takes a little bit to get the hair to lay the way you want it.

When it grows, it does what you were saying until it gets long enough and trained. ...if you push past it, you will be rewarded. .. and you won't look ridiculous like guys that keep theirs short and their beards long

I may let the majority of it grow long but the whiskers right in the corner of my mouth ain't happening. Those are the only few I've trimmed so far near my stachio.

Have you posted a pic of yours? I looked back through the thread and didn't find one but I could have missed it in the 8 pages...

    Update:
Well I'm roughly two and a half weeks into letting this thing grow out. I'm still using the beard oil and have not had any major problems. The itching really tapered off finally, no acne or beardruff. I've played around with trimming it, a couple days ago I slipped with the trimmer and notched my cheek line in a wonky way so to even it up I trimmed it down on both sides and I don't care too much for it that low. It came out lower than the corner of my mouth sort of. It's growing back in though so hopefully it doesn't look so goofy for very long. Not posting an update pic yet because of that.

It's kind of getting past that ugly stage where you can see though it to skin and finally starting to look like an actual beard rather than stubble or scruff. The stache is getting to where I see it out my lower peripheral so that took a little getting used to, lol. It's been a fun adventure so far, looking forward to letting it keep going for a while and see what happens. Oh and my dad actually complimented it the other day, so that was kind of a neat surprise to me, haha.

Going to a soil health convention in Salina KS next week, my boss hasn't seen this yet. I hope he doesn't give me a hard time over it but think it'll be fine.

I have not kept very good track of how long I've been letting this grow but it's surely at about a month now. It's not growing quite as fast as I thought it would. The part I trimmed too short is growing back in finally. I was thinking about cutting it of this morning but resisted the urge yet again. Haven't really gotten any remarks on it one way or another, mostly people just look at me a little funny.

The funny looks you are receiving have nothing to do with the beard ;)

Seriously tho, you HAVE to let It grow out... You have at least another month before you can really even start shaping it....just let it grow

I'm somewhat sorry to say that I gave in this morning at 11:30 am and shaved this beard off. I stepped outside on the porch to look at some honey bees out foraging in the warm weather and had a couple that apparently didn't appreciate my ability to grow face hair. They got into my whiskers and got pissed. I got out of it without getting stung but I just ordered ten new hives and package bees for this years expansion and I don't plan on having that same experience every time I get close to a bee, lol. I whacked that sucker down within a couple minutes. I regret not having it long enough to shape and see how it turned out but I may try it again sometime.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and tips, it was a fun thread and fun experience while it lasted!
