Shot a doe this evening, gave it some time and found the arrow. Good blood on the arrow. Wasn't getting the amount of blood I'd like. Add to that where I was hunting I'm not all that familiar with the area and its really thick and easy to get turned around in the daylight. I can only imagine trying to do it in the dark head down dragging a deer. So with the blood in mind and my own safety, I called it a night and will hit it first light. Just hate waiting..... And yotes, hate yotes.
As much as I enjoy bow hunting I always feel dread after the arrow is released and you can no longer see the deer running off. I don't feel better until I find the deer laying there dead.
Managed to find her around 9:30. Blood was starting to get sparce but I ended up seeing her about 80yds out, good thing I seen her as it was getting hard to find any blood. Kept tracking the blood though as its good practice. One drop here, one there. Little bit of luck never hurt anyone.
Glad it was a great ending! I hate the marginal hits and long nights! You did right by backing out just in case. Where did you end up hitting her?
Congratulations not only for the deer but also in having the discipline and fortitude to handle the situation correctly.
