While it may help out some I do not like this. To call it a bow is ridiculous. This a airgun that shots a bolt. I think it will be outlawed in most if not all states.
I bet you are wrong about it being outlawed in most states. Granted it may take time but I see this as being approved. There are already a lot of states you can hunt game, big game at that with an air rifle. I don't see this being any different.
Straight from their website: If you believe there’s room in the woods for something that moves an arrow at 450 FPS, that shoots straighter and is more accurate but isn’t driven by a string, and is safer and easier to operate, then please contact your legislators and wildlife officials. Tell them you want to use the Pioneer Airbow in a crossbow or archery season. Download this informational packet and get it into their hands by email, snail mail or personal delivery. With your help, we can introduce more people to hunting with airguns and with the Airbow, we can bring back those who may have left it.
So, you think they should leave archery as bow only and these and crossbows for alternative season and/or special permit only archery (for disabled, etc..) I'd be good with that.
The good ol slippery slope. In Illinois will I need my foid card? Lol. I think I need to renew my Pope & Young membership.
I'd like to shoot it. A gun that shoots arrows sounds pretty damn cool to me. Doubt I'd buy something like that to hunt with.
I think it could have it's uses . I mean, people are griping about this like people griped about the compound bow when it came out. Then it was crossbows and now this. Hell, they have a slingshot that shoots arrows with it now. I don't know it belongs in archery season but I could see people with a disability or who are older using it. My son can NOT pull a bow back and never will be able to, but I would let him kill one with a crossbow in archery /disabled season and not thing twice about it. With this thing, there isn't a chance of him loosing a finger or getting hurt like with a crossbow, so I just see it as another tool for people to use. And on the idea of poachers using it, they are gonna poach no matter what so this really doesn't have anything to do with it. Just my two Lincoln's.
Indeed. P and Y and several state bowhunting organizations been on the right side of this issue. Unfortunately there is plenty of industry money to be spent. One side lobbies for archery and one side lobbies for profit. I know the side I am on.
I have no issues at all with special implements for the disabled. I am all crossbow use for the elderly and disabled. Where I draw the line is enabling the lazy. Some hunter shouldn't be bow hunters. They don't have the interest or the dedication to the pursuit and the sport. I would argue that if a hunter was waiting for cross bows to be legal then we just enabled and rewarded his laziness.
I would throw muzzle loaders in with rifle season and make a season for crossbows and dart guns. :p It's mind boggling how muzzle loader gets a special season because of the way in which they have been modernized. Heckler for president!
Yes you will. Think I'm joking? You need a FOID to even handle a >.177 cal air rifle at the store. I'm not kidding.
Hey I am starting to get up there in years. My rotary cuffs get sore easy now. A cross bow is getting harder to engage so this will be what I eventually will have to go to hunt
