I have been using Bass Pro's RedHead Blackout Envy X5 340. Anybody use these? What are your thoughts on them? I'm new to bow hunting and just want some information on whether these are good hunting arrows or not. I have been thinking about changing. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Good question. The Bass Pro brand "blackout" arrows are actually Gold Tip arrows. Gold Tip sells the arrows to Bass Pro at a discounted price to keep their business. The actual Gold Tip name is "blacked out", as Gold Tip makes a different label for the arrows. They are identical to Gold Tip XT Hunter arrows, and are about $40 cheaper per dozen. Its a well kept secret. Gold tip arrows are among the best, and are a great hunting arrow. I don't see any reason to change. You may consider upgrading to the Blackout X1 Pro shafts for more consistency (.001 straightness).
