Chin up guys. Talked to a guy here at work that was out over the shotgun weekend. Seen nothing but does, said the rut is just about to start.
Headed to see the doc this morning. Stitches coming out finally. Haven't been in the woods in a while but I may try to go tonight or tomorrow morning, definitely Saturday.
About that.........haven't seen a doe at our place since October. I was thinking it was closer to done than getting started.
She ended up making it half way across the field... walking like a boogie man was behind every blade of grass then got to looking at the woods on the other side of the field and made a 180 and went back where she came out. I so wanted to yell BANG when she was in the middle of the field then shout just kidding
About to hang the bow up for the year after I did this a few hours ago... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hit and bent broad head with penetration to where my finger is at maybe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You can see in the pictures where the penetration stopped...my guess is that I maybe poked through the front shoulder then stopped...weird thing is though it didn't show signs of a shoulder hit didn't knock it down or limp...showed signs of a gut hit walked away with its tail tucked!!! Easiest hunt ever! Sneaking up to my blind I heard what I thought was a squirrel until it snorted at me from the other side of the blind. I didn't even get into the blind, I just snorted back and dropped my pack and put on my release. I could hear her circling down wind, uphill of me. I hunched up and turned my back to her while I nocked an arrow, and luckily she stopped behind some trees. I turned around, drew, stood up, and tried to find the lane through the trees. Luckily she wagged her tail and turned around, walking back the way she came and in an open spot. I settled the pin and shot her quartering away, but due to the uphill angle I shot her through one lung and dropped her when the broad head lodged in her spine. I put two more in her for good measure, and now my hunt is done in about 15 minutes. Lol!
