Well I'm getting closer...had one of our big guys walk passed one of our stand Halloween morning when I was at home trick or treating with my boys. Had one of the big bucks skirt by my dad about 70 yards out on a mission and same as Justin, no amount of bleating or grunting was going to change his mind. Then for the first time this year I had a deer within range, just happened to be a smaller 8 following a doe instead of one of the big guys. I'll be back out on Friday hopefully they'll read the script this time.
I'm heading out for an all day hunt Friday, the moon will be underfoot in the early evening and a cold front is pushing through Thursday day into the evening
I'll be out on Friday as well. I was hoping to get an all day sit in but it looks like it's going to be PM only. Too much going on at the office to take the full day off. Provided my 2nd tag isn't filled yet I plan on pulling all day sits on both Saturday and Sunday. After this front pushes through and cools things off I have to believe we'll see some really good all day action. Working during the first week of November is a killer.
Spent the last 11 days in the stand morning and evening. With and exception to one evening and one morning. Feeling a little spent. I had one within bow range that was pushing 150. I got sucked at 40 yards and still feeling the pain from that. Hopefully this weekend I can get something down. I really need some family time.
Man, that's rough. The most I've ever done in a row is 6 or 7 days and by the end I was ready to take a month off. Still some great hunting ahead of us. Never know when one is going to slip up and make a mistake.
My trail cams are blowing up!!!! Tons of bucks on them and many shooters!!!! This weekend should be on fire with the cold temps coming in
Good stuff boys! I was at a bachelor party in New Orleans last weekend till this Tuesday. But I'm hopping to get out a little this weekend! Some good bucks hitting the ground around these ways, things are heating up very nicely! Good luck fellas, go get'em!!
Ill be out in the morning. My 2 buddies hunted our property today both passing 4-5 bucks each. They were on their feet this afternoon!!
I guess my cousin shot a nice 8 point this morning. He hasn't sent me a picture yet but he's one of those guys where you can tell him something and he could forget it in a minute
I didn't get a picture because I guess he tried twice and it didn't go through. It was about 17 inches wide inside and maybe a 110-120 gross score. When he walked through again he jumped an even bigger buck. I hope I see him later.
After not seeing anything in the ground blind I dropped my sister off at my stand I shot my doe out of. Hopefully she will see something since it's her first day of hunting. I couldn't take sitting on the ground in the blind anyway.
