In the ground blind in NJ this afternoon. Good deer sign. Buck rubs all around me. Pretty excited. Hopefully a good one shows up. Good luck everyone. image.jpg

I ended up having a decent week in the stand. I saw 3 to 4 does every hunt, no bucks since last weekend. Hoping to get out Monday AM, vacation starts on Thursday. I'm amped!

Back in the blind this morning. Saw a huge buck at last light about 70-80 Yds yesterday afternoon. Can only hope he comes back today!

Been hitting NJ hard. Only two spike bucks in range, let them both walk of course. Have seen two nice 8pts but from a distance and about 5 min after shooting time. I have put myself in his piece of woods. Hoping he will show as I'm in his comfort zone. I'll drop a doe in a heart beat if one shows as well.

My last day in NJ. I've seen a very little chasing activity. No real rut activity. Rattling, grunting and bleats don't seem to work. Population seems to be way down. I have never seen so few deer in all my years hunting in NJ. Still some hope for the rest of the morning and then this afternoon but then I'm headed back to VT. Kids have youth weekend this Sat and Sun. Have to set up the blind Friday and get all their stuff together to do some gun hunting.

Well boys, that's it for me in NJ. I struck out, no shot opportunities and only saw three deer. Have never had that happen before. Sorry everybody. Pretty depressing for me, but my son did close on a nice 8 pt at about 11 this morning which was a bright end to our hunt. image.jpg

These warm temps are certainly not helping here in the northeast. I went straight to the stand from work and had 6 does mill around and bed right near me this morning. Could have swore I heard a buck grunting, but nothing ever materialized.

Way to go for your son vermont, that is a great buck!

Heading up to the lease tomorrow for my 1st all day sit this year. We have a major cold front coming in tomorrow. One of the other guys got a pic of a giant on the property that I am going to be hunting tomorrow.

Missed a giant tonight! Shot right under him at 20 yards. Was sitting and instead of bending at the waist when putting the pin on him I just lowered my arm. Even though I am sick about the miss, I am just happy that I didn't wound him. Will post a pic of him some time. He didn't know what happened so hopefully will get another shot at him. Going back after him or another big buck tomorrow morning.

Man we all know that feeling of a miss, I hope you get another crack at him!

I had 14 does around me for about an hour tonight, talk about trying not to move a muscle... My cameras in this spot have got one spike in the last 8 days. We have such a skewed sex ratio around here, going to try my other spots before the orange army hits.

Only got for half day yesterday morning and didn't see anything. Here is the buck that I missed. I am pretty confident that I will get another shot at him in the next two weeks unless I shot another buck first. The reason I think this is I am pretty sure this spot is close to his bedding area and he comes out to get a snack of corn before going to check for does. We have a ton of does in this area so he doesn't have to travel far. Not exactly sure what he would have scored, but I know that he is bigger than my buddies 180 buck he killed in 2012. I am disappointed in myself for messing the shot up but glad that it was a clean miss. So here he is

Wow.... Monster. That's a heartbreaker to miss a buck like that. Hopefully you get another chance
