I was wondering about this because tomorrow it's supposed to be around 60 degrees in the afternoon. Should I wait, or get out and hunt?
I wouldn't focus too much on the temperature. When the days start becoming shorter and the nights longer, animals are genetically programmed to react accordingly. It's called the photoperiod, and the trigger to the rut. Now is the time to start getting out there!
My experience is that when temps get above 45 degrees the daytime movement is slowed and more activity is in the cooler times, mostly at night. While it is true photoperiodism drives the rut, the temps control the movement or intensity. Deer have winter fat and winter coats making it uncomfortable in warmer temps. Still, if you have time why not hunt? There might just be one buck walking past your stand for whatever reason. Can't kill 'em from the couch.
You can't shoot a big boy sitting on the couch, so get out there. When it's warm like it is, I like morning hunts because it's a little cooler. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
