This doe walked right past my dip on the ground and had her at 22yds.
Makes no difference, as long as you are weary of your movement.

I agree there. Might start spitting my seeds into a bottle.

I chew every time I'm on my stand. Rarely ever spit so I'm never worried about that.

This morning.. Range finder strapped to my chest. Went to range a small buck and must have dropped some dip crumbs in the eye piece. Skoal apple don't taste so good in the eyeball. Felt like someone sprayed me in the eye with paint thinner.

Firm believer in that dipping doesn't matter. I always dip in my stand and see deer. Its like smoking, I know plenty of people who smoke while they hunt and kill deer. I think the deer don't relate that smell to humans, to them it's just a weird smell

I used to spit on the ground, one day 2 does smelled it and bolted outta sight. Now I always bring a 20 oz plastic bottle and spit in that. Also I never use my fingers to put my chew in, don't want that chew smell on my fingers. So I open the tin, and use only my tongue to get the chew in. Works fine and no more deer busting me. I'd say it's important to rinse bottle out after each day and leave open to air dry. And yes I do think deer don't like chew or the smell of cigs. I'm not saying you can't still kill deer, but why take the chance of blowing it

A buddy of mine once had a small buck walk to the base of the tree and actually lick the spit off the tree where he was sitting. Although, I am still a strong believer that dipping on stand decreases your chances at killing mature deer. Whether it be the scent of it or them catching you moving in stand to spit. But with that said, at the end of the day we are all in the woods to enjoy ourselves and if you enjoy hunting more with a dip in then you better have a dip in!
