Sucks but this is the one week in October I told the part time gig I could work more than I had the rest of the month...so gonna be hard pressed to make it out at all this week before next Wednesday. Saturday afternoon is a possibility but no guarantee sadly. Gonna hit everyone up with an update and try to reach almighty and bloodrunner again. Be nice to see those guys check in every now and then.

Well it's 3:30 and where driving through south Dakota heading back home. Sitting co piloit trying to catch up on things. Sounds like a few of you have had some good hunts. The time we all wait for is just around the corner. Sounds like a few of us will will have some good odds.

Well the trip to Wyoming went good for me. Started off we did a lot of driving around scouting since we where going in blind. Burned up two days pretty much doing that. After driving one morning we ended up spotting 3 mule deer bucks heading up a hill from the alfalfa fields. Dad was able to put what I thought was a good shot on one. To me after the shot it looked like he took out off side shoulder. But they all crested over the hill. We searched for a long time trying to find blood which never came up and then seatches even longer looking for a body. Up and down and all across. Ended up coming up empty handed. Made a few more sits seeing a couple small bucks, does and even a few elk. Wasn't until Saturday morning we sat on a high hill and seen a bull and about 6 does head across a flat into a bowl. Went over to a point where I could see a few ditchs coming together into one heading across the road to alfalfa fields. Ended up seeing 12 does and passed one 3 muley bucks. Knew it was a good area so went back in the morning. Right at light seen a alright muley buck, Had dad pass on him at 220. Little later on watched 8 does for a while. About 8:15 my buddy worked down the ridge to me and my dad. We where standing there talking trying to figure out what to do when I looked down in the bowl and seen a buck. Pulled up the binos seen it was a decent buck. Got down looking through the scope and noticed it was a whitetail (really surprised me). At that point I waited him to come back out of a ditch and pinned him at 201 yards (took out bottom of heart and off side leg). With in second heard a loud crash and seen a bush shake. Gave it a min and found him piled up 20 yards from the shot. After that things where pretty slow with just a few small bucks and does. Last morning out we where a touch late getting back to that point and sure enough as we where sneaking out there a decent mule deer buck already went passed and was working his way up the hill. Big bummer cause if we where there a little earlier dad could of pinned him at roughly 100 yards.

Well I had a great trip but still have been thinking about the deer back home. Cell cams have showed deer using plots more and the same 8 keeps showing up a little after dark. Got one picture I can tell is a good buck but can't tell coming out into the field right after dark. Excited to check rest of cams since we had the cool weather back home. Back to work for Thursday and Friday then the next two weeks I will be hunting and only working on crapoy days ( rain or warm temps).

Congrats on the bucks, Bootlegger and coheley!!

With the warm temps were having, I haven't been out much. I did take a few day off for the next couple of weeks......won't pick which days though till I see what the weather is going to do.

Who all is making it out this weekend? Any one starting to see some rutting activity? Have heard of a couple encounters from buddies on big boys putting a whooping on smaller ones

I'm headed out this weekend to my place down south in Fulton County, IL. I'll hunt all day Saturday and Sunday morning. We have some odd winds, but tomorrow morning it's good for what I believe is the best morning stand on the property.

I've struggled to get pics of decent deer on this place so far this year, but it's in the heart of a top B&C county, and only about 2-3 miles from where Clinton and Frankie are doing most of their filming to give you an idea. Those guys know the piece of property I'm on well and keep telling me that good bucks will show up, hopefully they are there by now. Haven't been there since opening weekend.

Bring the rattling antlers this weekend guys and best of luck!!

Not saying anything bad about any other staffers but when Frank and Clinton say you're in the right spot I undoubtedly listen no question. Dudes are full blooded whitetail hunters and it shows. Good luck brother. Me, sadly I'll be out Saturday afternoon but it won't be till this next week I start taking full days off for hunting....put some bone or does or both down for me everyone till I can join the fray!

    LET'S GO!

I will probably hold off on a doe right now since I have one deer to cut up already. Really hoping I can put one down early at the lease then focus on public for my second tag and also make a long weekend down to Ohio. Just going to play it by day one whether I will be making any trips to the public.

Saturday night I'll probably be on a property I'll take a doe, if wind switches it is all spot dependent now till late season whether does will be taken or not. Late season does can always be had for the freezer here.

Slipped out quick for evening hunt. Gave pops the best spot and headed to the ground spot where if they choose the East end of the marsh I will see deer...anything mature at this property and spot is fair game. We shall see.....

Had a good hunt last evening. 3 doe worked their way within 25 yards of my stand. I did not take one of them because they were all yearling. Very disappointed not a bigger one in the group. 5 minutes later, here come daddy grunting away and pushing them around. He was a medium sized 8 pointer. I almost let an arrow fling when he was 32 yards broadside. Was on the fence and since my heart was not beating out of my chest, I passed. That's my "in the moment" gage.

He was constantly vocal. Once the does pushed off and I knew he was following them, I hit a bunch of grunts which kept him in the area a few extra minutes. I hit a snortwheeze while he was about 45 yards out. He raised his head but, did not react. Always wanted to try that while I buck was visible.

In in Vegas for work this week. Maybe I will get lucky there! Then I will be hitting the last two weeks very hard. This work week can not go quick enough!!!

    Good luck guys.

Passed a bunch of does and another 120" or so 3 y/o last night.

Good news is I have a really good one that has moved into my property down south. I'm guessing he'll go low 160's at least and is just a very cool looking 5+ y/o deer.

I'm out of the woods until 11/7, spending this upcoming weekend with the family. I might get a local sit in this upcoming weekend but trying to take it easy before things heat up, I've got a 9 day stretch to get it done, I already can't wait to get back out there!

I am finally going to be able to start doing some serious hunting hopefully by this week's end. Pops and I both have yet to lay eyes on antlers but we haven't been pushing best spots hard though, especially due to all the trespassing and stealing compounding issues maybe.

Good luck fellas and Rick....you ever need a lease mate sometime in Illinois let me know because I've begun to think at some point I wanna get in on one in Illinois or Ohio.

All set up for my evening sit. I'm back at the tree I got my doe on the 1st of this month. Haven't hunted it again yet and there is plenty of doe movement on the trail according to my Moultrie. Hoping to at least get another for the freezer. My family has been plowing through the doe meat I got earlier. Good luck out there guys and above all stay safe.

Seen this guy crossing the road at the end of my driveway the other day. First time I've seen him since pics early in the year. [IMG]
