He doesn't look little to me. Great job, maybe he's big enough to put us back on top.

Saw a either a huge doe today or a little four pointer that my friend saw before he got down from his stand. I think he pushed it out of the woods when he was making his way out and I'm not quite sure because it was getting dark. But there's a scrape about 5-8 yards from my good stand. Hopefully I'll get a chance to hunt for a buck this year. Good luck to the rest of you guys.

Thanks a lot guys! Just put him in the score card, he grossed 109 1/8" surprised me a bit since I thought he was 120" ish on the hoof...missed it by a little, but I am happy with him! My buddy and I doubled up that day so it is def one I will never forget. Still have another buck tag and 2 more doe tags left so I'll see how the rest of the season goes.

No calls, went to one of our spots because I had a perfect wind for this set, it's real thick and holds a good amount of deer. Have a hang on in the only tree that can hold a stand, a pine. Here's my view in front of me....
At around 4:30 I had a doe creep in behind me and literally was under my stand at the base of the tree. She worked her way through heading towards the farm to the east. At about 5:15ish I heard something moving in fast out in front of me and eventually saw a doe moving in like she was being chased. Immediately thought there was a buck on her tail so I grabbed for the camera to power it on and get it in position and grabbed my bow...she came in so quick and didn't stop once that by the time the camera was turned on she was already gone. Nothing was right on her tail so I shut the camera off and moved the camera arm out of my way. All of a sudden at 5:32 I see the brown of a deer coming in from the same way. Can't tell what it is until all of a sudden get a glimpse of a tine at 20 yards. He stepped behind the brush to the right in the opening right in from of me and walked out at 16 yards. Judged him quick decided I would shoot, reached for the camera AGAIN, but couldn't pull it off! I had that small window for a shot right there (about 7 yards) and decided to forget it and just draw on him while I could. Settled my pin behind the shoulder and let one fly...hit him a touch back, but knew it would work. It looked good still, and I knew I def got lungs. Heard him crash, but then get back up shortly after, but then crash again a few minutes later. Waited till dark to get down and check my arrow and wait for my buddy to come and meet me (who had shot one earleir that afternoon already), we ended up finding him 70 yards away.
Here's where I shot him, you can see my green nocturnal...to the left of the small little tree in the open area right in front of the set

Was a pretty cool hunt, everything worked out well other than the fact I couldn't get the camera turned on and on him, pretty bummed about that! Next time, hopefully! Still have a few tags left. haha

Made my first venison burgers last night and they were better than any burger I've ever tried. I thought they would be dry but they turned out really juicy.

How did you prepare & cook them?

I like to mix mine with a packet of dry ranch dressing mix or onion soup mix, along with about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of sour cream. Then I season them with salt/pepper before tossing on the grill. The key is not to cook them too long or they will dry out. :tu:
