Saw little bucks on their feet last Saturday in KY. Heard guys saying they've seen some small scrapes opening up. Also heard some guys say theyve seen deer pushing ea h other around. I haven't seen either yet. I did notice an uptick in road kills this past week. Looked to be all does, but hard to tell when your passing by at 80.
I'm not sure if this is because of the rut, but I had a small 8 pointer show up on the camera two nights in a row. It was over a bait pile and when he came in he didn't eat anything.... Btw I hunt in central ohio
Little bucks are up and hitting scrapes. Some younger bucks in the 3 1/2 year old range to are up in daylight moving.
Turning on in CT. Had a mature buck chasing around 3 does tonight. Topped off with fresh scrapes popping up all over.
nothing in PA. my cameras are showing only nighttime movement. single bucks with no does. starting to now see a few scrapes open up.

Phase 2 Peak Breeding (November 10-November 25) This can seem like a lull as bucks hole up with estrous females. Phase 3 Frantic Search (November 26-December 9) Bucks again travel far looking for a chance to breed. The world of whitetails is about to be turned on its head. Seems in my area (North/Central PA) the buck are just cruising to check scrapes morning and evenings with the occasional young buck chasing a doe, but I don't think it's because the doe are ready. I had a few buck come in yesterday morning when I was out (a couple nice ones that never came into range) and they didn't seem to be on the search for doe yet, they just worked the scrape line and then disappeared into the thick stuff to bed down at about 7:45-8:00 am, if the doe were ready they would have more than likely stayed on their feet and continued cruising. I think by next week things are going to heat up, but the buck I saw yesterday didn't seem to be getting too excited yet and are still avoiding being on their feet too much during daylight hours. The Doe are still all hanging together and were together all day, so the buck haven't started pressuring them and breaking up their groups either.
Necks are swelling and bucks are checking scrapes, night only. Had five bucks at one scrape the other night so they're still hanging out together. MN. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
