Put a cam up last week on a spot I hadn't touched since last year. Just an old mineral lick. Didn't get a lot of pics but a few of this guy. No giant but hell do if nothin else shows.
I wonder if he was even left handed? Anyway. Went out once this weekend got to my tree an hour before shooting hours about 15 minutes later in came 3 deer. Could see anything but they're tails and necks. I managed to stall them for 45 minutes! I kept going meeehhh after they took a few steps. It was thrilling and promising but of course by the time I could see they where just out of earshot. I hung around waiting for them to possible return. They didn't. I think they were just checking down wind of their bedding area. They kinda made a hook and circled back.
Saturday afternoon I made a brief last minute scouting trip on a piece of public land I have never hunted before. I had my four-year-old in tow so we just drove around looking for potential spots to pop up a ground blind for him to sit in with me on another day. We ended up seeing three does in a field about three hundred yards away in a field. He was not in the mood to sit in a blind and insisted we try to get close enough to shoot one. I made a halfhearted attempt to stalk close enough for a shot. The wind was right but the field was flat and open with no cover. It it hard enough to stalk a deer with a bow on my own, much less with a four-year-old behind me. We made it within 100 yards before one of the does turned around and spotted us crouching on the field edge. They took off. On the upside, I found the trail where they came out of the trees along a creek bed. Looks like a good spot. Hopefully we will get back in there in the next couple of weekends.
Sat out this am and saw nothing but heard a bunch running through the woods on my way in 1.5 hours before sunrise. Guess I didn't beat them this am. Back out this afternoon and the construction going on ~300 yards away has quieted down some to about half as loud and annoying. Hopefully we'll see a buck come through! Best one I've got on camera so far
Hunted hard Thursday- Monday and saw a lot of does and small bucks but no shooters!! Took off from hunting last night and tonight but will be back at it tomorrow afternoon when I get done work!! Bucks are starting to work scrapes and rubs pretty good so hopefully it won't be long now!!
Been out twice this week. Both times had at least two deer come in. Just outta range or before or after shooting hours.

Looks like I may not be getting out this weekend. Forecast is calling for heavy rain all day today and tomorrow. Sunday I am too busy. Arkansas needs the rain but I need some time in the woods.
Not having a good weekend here, wind is whipping and it's warm here, will be hunting this evening but it's not looking too good
