Watched a young buck chasing a doe on my morning sit. Kinda early even for here.

I had high hopes for this evening in Kentucky but only saw one doe. Here's hoping the Bucks move in the morning.

Muzzleloader season opens here tomorrow. I hate bow hunting with an orange hat and vest on.

Sorry for the delay. Been a busy day. I didn't see anything to shoot this morning. At first light I had three small bucks come in and hang out right under me for a half hour.

It was a small 8, a big spike and a four point. I watched the spike and the four point spar and then watches the 8 point and the spike spar.

I thought they were never going to leave. After that I saw three does and a spike about a hundred yards away.

I got down at 10:00, went to my brothers house, changed and then ran 6 miles.

I started to take my bow back out but decided to take my TC Encore instead.

I should have taken my bow.

I killed a doe and 20 minutes later I killed an 8 point. I shot the buck at 30 yards. I really should have taken my bow.

I'm unbelievably tired. I'm just thankful for the low temps tonight so I do t have to skin and quarter two deer.

Been having a few bucks show up on camera. Nothing huge but some nice ones. Ended up passing one Saturday night that was about 125". Things are starting to heat up around here. Lots of rubs and scrapes popping up by the day

Looking good! I didn't get out last weekend because I had trouble finding a sitter. My parents had a busy week with my sister having a second foot surgery. I'll get out 1 afternoon this week for sure and at least once this weekend.

Look at the neck on that boy in the 4th picture!

You guys taking any time off during the rut? I'm hunting this weekend and then off the 30th through the 7th.

Taking off from 11/01-11/14. Originally had 11/08-11/21, but decided to change it up. I've been in kind of a no deer slump lately. Hopefully things pick up for me.

None for me this year I'm afraid. I probably won't take much vacation time for deer season anymore. Elk hunting is a curse!

I have about 7 days to burn before the end of the year. I'll probably take a lot of the week before rifle season. That's typically my best time in the woods. In fact 4 out of my last 6 bucks were taken between the 11th and the 15th.

Yeah that buck in the 4th picture is intriguing but it'd be nice if I had a better picture of him.

No full time off for me, since I used it for my South Dakota trip. I should be able to get out and hunt before work some days, and after work other days if things break right. Just depends how the cattle are moving.

Weather is really warm here. I may not hunt this weekend. It's supposed to be 15 degrees above normal. I may take the opportunity to go check out 1000 acres I got offered permission to hunt about 3 hours from home & put up a few cameras & stands.

My hunting plans for the next two weekends are shot. I was planning to go to a good spot I have in Arkansas this weekend, but the weather forecast says rain Friday afternoon, thunderstorms Saturday and rain Sunday. Figures. I know there's nothing I can do about it but it ticks me off.

My oldest son called me yesterday and wants to come for a visit Halloween weekend. Normally I wouldn't let much trump a halloween weekend hunt, but he's bringing my newest grandson Wyatt, who I haven't met yet. That's more important than a couple of days hunting deer regardless of the conditions. Besides, I can still sneak in a couple of morning sits behind the house and still be back before they wake up.

Wyatt is grandchild number 11. Number 12 is on the way and I'm only 52. :)

Yes, I know it's hard to believe but family is more important than the rut.

It's been almost 3 weeks since my last sit. Finally going to get in the stand tonight and a few times this weekend. Between JR. High softball, travel softball, basketball and me being sick, there just hasn't been any time for me in the stand. I kinda feel naked going in. I generally use the early season as a time to figure things out. I feel like I'm going in blind now.
