Did u get the grouse kill in film? Lol I have shot 2 with my bow along with 1 pheasant the population is booming in my neck f the woods! Never seen this many grouse in my life! Sent from my arrow using Mathews
I'm getting me some tips to kill grouse. Had one walking in the leaves behind me last weekend, damn things make a lot of noise. Came out to my left about 15yards. Didn't think I wanted to run a mechanical through'em.
No, but I'm going to try over the next week or two before the deer action really picks up. Might be the only way I get a kill for BHOD
Fitz. what does the bear population look like this year?? and do you get pics of bears often into Nov??
I have a ton (relative I suppose) of does around me, but not as many bucks on camera this year. I don't have as many cams out though, and they aren't in the same spots as previous years. I hardly ever get pics or see bears into Nov. Been getting a few on camera every once in a while, but this is the first year in the last 5 that I haven't had one come through and tear up the bird feeders.
This cold front was nice, but I've sat it out so far. Was 19 this morning. Resort will be empty by this afternoon. Going to go help my brother hang his stand a check his cameras this afternoon. Hoping to see pics of Buster, and the moose from my first sit. I've wanted to get out but just haven't been able to. I'm not too worried yet. In fact, letting a few of these spots rest is probably good for the upcoming couple weeks. I'm liking the look of next weekend. The continued cool temps, the moon phase, the approaching rut... I'm going to try and get out as much as I can 22nd-26th. My buddy Nick comes up on the 27th through the 31st. That should bring us into the rut itself. I'm antsy, but liking how this is going to play out
Didn't have time to go through the cards with my bro before he hit the road. I'm anxious to see what was on those cards. I'm down to 3 cams up here again. Need to really beef up my inventory in the off season. I'm pretty sure any possibility of patterning a buck this season has sailed. The good news is, I know where there are pockets of does, and I'm hoping that will be my key to success as the rut nears.
Well, not too much on the cams. Looks like these are the last two pics we have of Buster. I'm not too worried though, this is not out of the norm too much. I'd be nice to know he was in that area more though. I'm starting to wonder if he hasn't taken over more of Blade's old grounds, possibly spending more time on Whister's Ridge and the North Shore? I'd like to re deploy some cams to find out, but we're getting late in the game for that. I'm sure most bucks are making the rounds to pinpoint where all the does are hanging out. Soon they'll be cruising, looking for those first does to pop. That's my best chance to catch them anyways. The best times are yet to come!!
He looks better evry year. You putting him at 5 maybe 6? Don't recall exactly how much history you have with him. Hopefully he makes the Whistler mistake and not the Blade one, you deserve to put one of them down.
So I'm going to make it out tonight. Calm and variable winds, which can be tricky, so I think I'll go sit in the Outlet Funnel. I like that spot because if there's any breezy, it usually gets pushed either N or S over the water. Will be hard to hear anything coming with the creek running, but I think that spot is my best option. Yellow is where I'll hang (roughly). The red shows how the main trails come together. It should be about a 35 yard shot to the water, but they aren't using that edge as much these days.
There are two trees I usually hang in, one at 20', the other at about 5' (the Short Stack Stand). With the calm-ish winds, I'll be going high.
