I have a mock scrape set up and now within 25 yards of the mock scrape there are 4 other scrapes done by bucks. Is it good practice to set up a dripper over an established real buck scrape or is that a bad idea, please weigh in.
I'm no expert but I think you should be fine and it might help you. Whichever buck/bucks created those 4 scrapes will more than likely take over your mock scrape. IF you were very carefull with scent control and such. I think you can put them over real scrapes as well. I have a scrape on our land that has been their for about 5 years now and it always gets used. I thought about putting a dripper on it to see if I can get more daytime trailcam pictures since I never really hunt where this scrape is.
I have done this and it really gets the bucks that are using the scrape interested in the fresh sign on the scrape. It's not a bad idea. Placing the dipper will keep the scrape fresh with scent and deer coming in to check it. Creating new mock scrapes creates activity in an area you may not have seen before or maybe closer to a stand location of yours. Both work well for keeping the attention of area bucks.
