Well...thanks to Hurricane Joaquin, the weather is supposed to windy and rainy here on Saturday (opening day). I guess I shouldn't complain too much, though. For me it's just a small inconvenience...for some out there it sounds like it could be a real danger. Hoping everyone comes through it ok. I'm sure I'll get out an afternoon or 2 to hunt next week if Saturday doesn't work.

Quick update: Been really busy lately, classes are kicking my butt but i'm making it workout. Got a camera out on some public land and have pictures of a few very nice deer. I will be moving the camera later this week to a trail that is coming out of the deer's bedding area. Hopefully I have guessed there bedding area correctly. Good luck to all of you hunting this weekend!

Checked cams today after not getting out for a few days. Last night had small 8 and my big one walk past cam & stand last 5 min of light. Was pretty pumped to get out tonight there. 15 min til done and had a doe come out and cross paths with small fox in front of me. They went their own ways and I waited and last min came and I was about to step down when three were at about 60 yards taking pokes at each other. They either caught my scent or the foxes cause they half spooked took off to the woods and finally snorted a min later and were gone. When they first came in they were outta my lane I could see perfect so couldn't make out who they were, and it was dark enough when they left I couldn't either. The one definitely had good body size on the other two so I'd bet that was the big one. With only having a handful of bucks around now I'm pretty confident of which they were. Can't say it wasn't a cool night, if light woulda been for 15 min longer it coulda been pretty interesting

I connected on a decent 8 pointer last night...he's no giant, but one I definitely couldn't pass in the area I hunt. I shot him at 12 yards, and he ran a half circle around my stand and dropped about 5 yards behind me. Montec + 2 lungs = short tracking job :)
Seriously though, very thankful for the opportunity to harvest this deer. I will try to get it entered in the contest as soon as I get a chance. I'm not great at scoring them, but looks like it will come in right around 100 inches. PA030014.jpg PA030001.jpg PA030005.jpg

I seen a ton of deer and every time I wanted to shoot a doe she had young ones with her. I did have the biggest 6 point I have ever seen at 10 yards but the problem he was on the wrong side of the fence. I was on the south side of the fence waiting for deer to jump the fence. I don't have permission on the north side so I had no choice but to let him pass. He ended up 60 yards to the west of me and jumped the fence. I did get him on video though. Maybe next time!

Congrats and awesome to see. That's a great deer and glad it went well. I think you're real close with 100".

That's an awesome 6. Some of the huge forks and sixes people post on here are some of the coolest racks I'd say. I'd have a hard time not taking the shot and splashing some blood around so you only "tracked" it on that side...

I can track on the other side I just can't shoot on that side. It was tough but as I get older as they say Hunting is a privilege not a right. But.....lol

I agree. I'd probably record it like you did and I'd pout a little instead after. That's probably why I always try and set up where I can't see where I can't shoot, my luck I'd have to watch them steady over there to rub it into me. Hopefully he comes across for you. I'd like to see some good pics of you with him

Sorry to hear that too. Hope it turns out to be less damage than expected. Last year, I think exactly to tonight, I separated my shoulder and thought it was worse. None of it's fun no matter what and hope it turns out as good as it can
