Guys messed around last night and made this for an avatar Let me know if you want me to make changes or if anyone else has any ideas
Well I just got access to the property I have hunted for free the last 5 seasons, the property I learned to hunt on and the property I know inside and out. It is only 60 acres and a pass through property at that. Me and a buddy are leasing it this season (reluctantly) for $500 total $250 each of us. The good news is I haven't put any pressure on the land at all this off season as I usually do (between food plots, scouting and trail cameras). The bad news is, we didn't get any food plots planted as we have the past 4 seasons. So I will probably go out and hang a few stands on this property this weekend and hang a camera or two and see what happens. Will hunt this property only if the wind is right, if I want a doe or during the rut. No real reason to hunt it any other time. I passed on a 3.5 yr old 10 pointer last year feeding in my soy bean plot and passed on an 8 pointer 3 years ago feeding in my Evolved Harvest Shot Plot.
If you guy's haven't checked out the score card yet you should check out Justin's buck. What a monster!
Going out after work on Thursday to hang some more stands. Also put up some Tink's Mock Drippers last weekend. Can't wait to see if they are being hit!
Sounds good man I still haven't had a chance to start mock scrapes yet but im hoping this weekend for sure good luck with it!!!
Hey guys. Sorry I've been quiet, busy with work dignosing tractor issues through harvest season. season. As well as a new pup at home. We are 8 days from season open in Iowa. Went out last week and the camera had been dead for two weeks. Good news is I scouted around the rest of it. Found 2 more parking spots, and I think they look more promising than where I was at originally. I'm going to try to get out this weekend and hang 2 cameras which will get pulled at the start of the season. This should also give me time to walk some of the ground to get closer to where I want to be. More than likely I will grab my cameras walking in on my first hunt, and finding a good spot to hang the lone wolf. It'll be a run and gun season until I find some movement. In planning on taking vacation over thanksgiving to get 2 more days of hunting in Kansas. This has usually been prime time for us. I'll try to stick a doe there, but if the rut is up and going then I'll be holding out for a buck. No one should be out on the property I have access to there, so it could go either way. Usually I run minerals and a feeder through the season.
Glad to here from u buddy hope everything plays out well for you as season is fast approaching. Best of luck to you with your scouting and camera placement as we are all hoping for a gud pull each time we go swap a card out I also have one more camera to put out at the food plot and thats it for cams. Im hearing of a big boy running around but no sightings yet but who knows because I haven't got a camera on the food plot yet but there is at least a thousand or more tracks on it. The food plot is coming up good so that will be a good food source early season and late because its a mix of perennials and annuals so im excited to see what the food plot will bring. My other primetime spot is the Ridge but im stuck between hunting it during the rut and the opener man this next pull should help me with that decision I hope. As always be safe out there the opener is right around the corner.
Well less that 13 hours till I'll be in the stand for the first hunt of the season Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
