Does anybody remember Dan Fitzgerald and vanilla killa?

Let's hear how you use it and does it work for you.

Never heard of that product. When I was a new bow hunter I used to soak 1/4 wood dowels in vanilla and stick them in the ground at yardage intervals to be an on the ground range finder. Never saw a deer pay any attention to them. As far as it's successful usage on a hunting show, well I don't want to sound like some kind of kook that would deny the moon landing, but deer usually don't just go to a food based attractant unless they have been conditioned to go to appealing smells where food is always available. This is better achieved in a controlled fenced in area, so if you see it on camera you might want to be just a little bit skeptical.

I've used Nosejammer a few times. Got some for free at the ATA show last year so figured it was worth a try being free and all....

Haven't had any real reactions positive or negative definitively. I was just spraying a bit on my pack or a nearby tree when elk hunting earlier this month, figured it couldn't hurt with all the sweating I was doing. I did have some very close encounters with both elk and mule deer and never got busted FWIW

I hate coconut, I can detect it in the ppm range if it is in food.

If you are referring to plain ole vanilla in a bottle.
Yes. I have used it in the past. I just put it on a scent wick then hung it in a tree. Never seen any deer scared of it at all. Most would walk up and lick the wick.
Honestly I had forgotten about using it.

Yes. Like vanilla extract. I remembered years ago using vanilla based products and I was wondering if anyone still uses it today.

I have tried it. Never had much luck. I might have over used it some also, if anything I felt like I seen less. They might have caught on that smell = hunter. Im sure if used in moderation it can be good though. I was experimenting and when I didn't see results I increased when I probably should have decreased.

I do not believe cover scents work for whitetail. If humans can differentiate between different odors at the same time, so can they... to a much higher degree.

I'm going to have to give it a whirl again this year.
Let me know if you have any luck with it.
