Mitch I don't know the whole story or where you hunt, but that is a slight conundrum. Hunting in November is great, right!? So you decide,.. would this be your biggest? What means more, being in the woods during the rut, or having a 150in. deer for sure on your wall? When you shoot them doesn't matter, but answer these questions yourself to what really matters to you and be confident in it. That being said,.. you can't shoot bigger if you don't pass a few, but will you have a chance at bigger if you do? A bird in the hand.. www.soundbarrierhunting.com
That's a no brainer IMO, however I get very few chances at deer over 130" where I'm from. At the end of the day it's whatever makes you happy not what makes everyone else.
I'm normally pretty good at estimating rack size. I'd be surprised if that buck isn't 160+ with that frame. The long brows make up for the shorter G4's.
I wouldnt even think about it right now. Wait until you have the encounter. Then think. I think i know what you will think if you wait to think, like i think you should. Think about it......
I agree with JaminWI. I love my trail camera but I hunt a ton of public land. If a buck of that caliber walked by me I would be letting an arrow fly. If you want to wait til the rut to shoot a buck then you might as well leave your bow at home til Halloween and just bring a camera. You have no guarantee that he will offer you a shot during the rut. Good luck!
If he makes you happy, you shoot. But, that's for you to decide. 150 might be stretching him a little bit.
I heard a saying a few years ago that sticks with me now. Never pass a buck up today, that you'd be happy to shoot the last. I think there is weight to that. Its difficult to get a target buck into range to begin with. Don't let him walk by.
