Good luck, Jake. I just got home from hanging a set on my main property. Its in a new spot on a ridge top. I don't have a shot much over 25-30 yards because its so thick. There's quite a bit of sign in the area. I also scouted an area where I shot at a pretty good (approx 110") 8 pointer laster year...3 times. That area looks pretty promising, as well. I also got the go-ahead from the landowner to do whatever I want with the property in the way of food plots. Parts of the property have just recently been logged so I'd like to try to get some patches of Whitetail Institute Secret Spot in there in the next few weeks. Have any of you guys used anything like that? I'd like to get soybeans or something in there but the soil is pretty acidic and its almost impossible to get equipment back there so it'll have to be by hand. I'm gonna hit my evening farm tomorrow and pull the cameras. That stand is already hung and I've had somewhat decent luck there. There's a good buck on camera there that I'll be holding out for, as well as two other smaller bucks. I shot him last year but only got one lung and couldn't find the deer. Three months later he showed back up on camera and I have some pictures of him this summer. Hopefully I can make it work this year.
Cool I'm 15 minutes away from Greenwich but I live next store in westchester ny Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I hunt land in Georgia and Alabama. But just got an invite to hunt some awesome private property in Mississippi. So my official goals will be too harvest a deer (not necessarily a buck, just a deer) in all 3 states. I believe that is a feat in itself, wish my luck!
Seven new stands hung. Neighbor to the south claims he has two great bucks on film. His usually end up by me by mid October. Looking forward to this season.
Going to finish up the last of the work on our Alabama lease this weekend. Won't be back in there till season opener Oct. 25. Want to get it all done so I can concentrate on Georgia
I pulled my cameras yesterday from the farm. I have a really nice 8-pointer showing up pretty regularly but he's young, probably 2.5 years old. I'd love to let him grow. Hopefully I'll have the discipline to let him walk another year. I'm at work for the next 24 hours so and I don't have wifi so I'll try to get pics from my computer when I'm home.
Checked all my Alabama cameras this weekend, nothing to write home about. I did get some good info on a good spot though. There's some short planted pines that fall off to a pretty thick bottom. I thought the deer were traveling from the bottom, through the pines and up to a field. I put a camera down there a month ago and I was right. Have 3 decent bucks using it on a regular basis. That area is pretty hard to hunt but I found a tree that I think will work. Trimmed shooting lanes at all my proven spots. I am going to try and get my trail cameras set up to get a bow kill on video with one, should be a good angle. Georgia season starts this weekend, won't be out till next weekend though! Amazon has Stealth Cam p18's for pretty cheap, no tax and free shipping. You get the camera, 8 AA batteries and a SD card for $85. I ordered 2!
