My wife pulls 50lbs and has a 27" draw. Any input I on why broad heads would be best for her? I shoot the 3 or 4 blade muzzy but didn't know if those would be good for her also. Thanks guys
I like the cut on contact fixed heads. Like super sonic, sonic pro and the original sonic heads by the American broadhead company. I've shot them and they shoot the best out the fixed blades I've shot.
I am by no means an expert and not sure if they are "the best" to use, but I can tell you I've got 2 deer with 100gr fixed heads at 50lbs. Didnt go completely through but the broadhead went through both sides before the arrow stopped. Was a short track job for both deer and lots of blood
Cool I will probably have her just shoot the 3 blade instead of the 4 maybe will get a pass threw or close.
When I shot trad bows I always shot 2 blade cut on contact Magnus heads and they are excellent. Plus Mike from Magnus is a super nice guy and will go out of his way to help you. I have considered using them again but I really like QAD heads out of my current bows so I continue to use them. I also used Muzzy heads for a long time out of compounds and always liked them. The chisel type does kill a little penetration though since it requires more force to push through.
I second Slick Tricks. Simple and effective COC heads. They have always flown right with my field points.
You are going to want a cut on contact head that is a fixed blade. If you aren't good at sharpening heads you might want a serrated edge. I love the Magnus stingers, the buzzcut are the serrated version of the stingers. I wouldn't think that two or four blade would make a difference.
For sure another vote for the Slick Tricks, especially the standard for that rig, and the Viper Tricks may very well be even better for low poundage, but I haven't tried em.
If she puts it in the boiler room she can kill with any broadhead on the market. I personally would stick with the tried and true muzzy 3 blade!
I actually played with the Slick Tricks a few years ago and liked them but had a friend that bought a new package and wasn't impressed with the sharpness or quality. Again this wasn't first hand experience but I think there was a recent ownership change for ST. I am probably old school by the Muzzy are simple, cheap and effective for me so I'm sticking with what works for me. I can't keep up with the new product chasing in the archery world anymore.
QAD exodus. I shot 2 bucks last season with them. Not to mention I'm pulling 40 pounds and both died in under 50 yards. I'm a low poundage broad head expert from all the research I've done on them. Definitely the best broadhead for low poundage bows. They fly true and are accurate and deadly.
I like regular slicktrick for their flight and that their blades are very easy to sharpen and hone. blew through a medium size hog chest at 30 yards with a 50 pound bow. But I would be comfortable with any smaller sharp broadhead to get maximum penetration.
my wife has shot about 15 bear and 15 deer with the plain old Muzzy heads and she shoots about 46lbs. Rage and low poundage should not even be in the same sentance
Oh man, I forgot about the old Magnus Buzzcuts. I used them as well...seems like forever ago. Brings back memories of shooting a traditional. I really need to bust mine out.
I would also agree with the fixed blade. They also have the Grim Reaper hybrid broadhead that looks interesting (http://www.amazon.com/Grim-Reaper-H...917880&sr=8-7&keywords=grim+reaper+broadheads) I got some to use this year. Excited to put them to the test!
