Used one last year and they seemd to hit it up until the rut, not a lot of action on it the second year. I will only be using Pops Loose Moose for now on with some Monster Raxx Vanilla extract Second year site
I use one every year in the off season. They work really well. Trophy Rock is mostly salt and it doesn't do much to benefit a deer's overall health and antler growth. I don't use it as a primary mineral source. I use MonsterRaxx.
Trophy Rock will do as it should though, attract deer...I mean salt is like candy to kids, arguments can be made whether salt does the deer's health any good but that is another discussion.
I never had much luck with deer hitting a mineral site till I tried the trophy rock. I moved on to monster raxx this year, will be interesting to see the results.
We have used it for a couple years now. It does its job of getting deer in front of our cameras but for deer health I would probably go with MonsterRaxx
I use them on my property and they love em. I have notice antler size getting bigger and overall herd health, but I can't say it's all because of the trophy rocks. That could be a number of things such as food plots and natural vegetation around. In the spring and summer they do attract a lot of deer though.
I use trophy rocks on my in-laws farm, mostly because I don't want to have to go over there all the time and bug my father-in-law . I've had good luck with the deer using them. I use massive mineral mix at my other property and have had excellent results from that.
trophy rock isn't a mineral but a salt i know the company well, as they have used one of my suggestions to create a product. that being said...i use redmonds 44 lb blocks that i buy for $8 per 44 lbs instead of the trophy rock that is around $15 for 20 lb block...it's the exact same product but putting a fancy name and deer on it makes it worth 3 times the price, i guess. I joke with people that i should just chop a block in 1/2 with an axe and drag it behind my 4 wheeler for a few minutes and then sell it as trophy rock. Calcium and phosphorous are the major components to grow antlers after protein....salt is required at 1/3-1/2 oz/hd/day i use redmonds #10 on the deer mineral i sell......
Out of a couple thousand photos on my trail cam last year, not one deer touched my trophy rock. I have been hunting all my life and can say that deer in different areas have different ways about them. Example, The deer at my dad's place will not go near a tripod deer feeder. But 5 miles down the road, my cousin had them all year long with many directly under the feeder itself. So you may have luck with it, or you may not. Me personally, I wont be buying another one. Some things you just have to try.
Last year was my first time trying a trophy rock. The deer loved it and hammered it. So this year I put a 2nd one out on a different property. Haven't checked the cam yet to see if they are hitting it or not. I also dump monster raxx on and around the trophy rock. That way they get the salt and the minerals they need. Deer, as all ruminants have a salt requirement and it's typically 1/3-1/2 oz/head/day Salt regulated intake. This is why the ideal range of salt in a deer mineral is 15-25%. Trace mineral salts have a small percent of the daily requirements in them compared to what they need and so a solid mineral program tends to give one response unless one has a healthy soil and a good blend of forages.
