Based on "in-person" discussions nobody likes the change. What do you say BHC? http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on...-moved-back-to-15-yard-line-defense-can-score
No matter what, people are going to complain about change. No matter how good it is. That being said, I think they should get rid of the field goal completely and have teams go for 2 every time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't mind it but I can see how some teams could potentially suffer from trying to kick the PAT because of the cold and wind is worse in places like NE, Cleveland, Buffalo, and Green Bay. But, I'm all for making it NOT an automatic extra point, it brings competition and I think it will make things more interesting and we'll see more trick plays. I also like the fact that the defense can bring INT and fumbles back to the opposite endzone for 2 points.
I am against tweaking the game anymore at this point simply because I feel most of the recent rule changes are catering to fantasy football. I know that fantasy football has led to more interest in the NFL but watching and rooting for players vs teams is not the spirit of sport.
I like some of the facets of the change. The defense being able to score is a good change. I don't really think moving the kick back is going to change much. It's still pretty much automatic from that distance, and if the kickers practice that like the practice PAT's now, my guess is that in a couple years the conversion rate will be right up there and 97 to 98 percent. I think a better change would have been to give the teams 7pt for a TD, then give them the opportunity to add 1 pt by going for it from the 2. If they do not convert, then they loose one of those 7pts. They could choose not to attempt the extra point. To me, that would really put some strategy into the decision. Also, one of my biggest complaints about watching the NFL is the commercial break after a score, then the kickoff, followed by another commercial break. I enjoy watching the kickoff and I wouldn't want to see it changed, but that extra commercial break really breaks up the action.
sounds good to me, the gimme extra poit kicks we are used to seem to slow down the excitement if the game to me. I look forward to watching this season with the new rule.
Yeah how often do you see it happen in college. Hardly ever. It's the pat moving back I like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was wondering the same thing? It will be very rare. Defenses can also score versus field goal attempts but it hardly ever happens.
I don't like it because the media is seeking out kickers to ask their opinion like kickers are real football players.
