Last week I picked up a new pair of running shoes. I'd gotten a glimpse of them at the Marathon Expo in December. Last year it was one joint problem after another. I've started running again and I was interested in trying these shoes. They are the Hoka One One Bondi 4. They may not be for everyone, but they are amazing. I've only ran in them twice, but I'm very impressed. The cushioning is extreme. The way the sole is designed lets your footfall roll comfortably. It eliminates so much of the jarring when running on pavement or concrete. I did a 7 mile run in them Saturday. I can't say for sure if it was the shoes or if it was just a really good day, but I could have kept on going at the end. I started with the intention of slowing the pace down, but I found that I was going faster with less effort. The hills and inclines weren't an issue at all. They really shine on the downhill. The design turns jarring impact to a natural roll. I just thought I'd share for anyone who might need them. I'm going to pick up another pair today. Maybe two more so that I can rotate through them.
I really like my Hokas. I have a tendency to have sore feet and knees and they help a lot. Not the nicest looking shoe but I could care less about that.
Thanks for the info. The arthritis in my left knee needs a pair of shoes like the ones you described.
Yep, there are a lot of much better looking shoes, but at my age fashion is the absolute lowest priority in this game.
Thanks for the info, what stores carry them? I've been plagued by foot joint pain lately, especially after switching to brooks.. Not sure what it is with the brooks, buy they kill my feet.
I'm not sure about your area, but around here (Memphis, TN) they're found in specialty stores - Fleet Feet and Breakaway Running.
I find they run true to size. I have used runnerswearhouse.com a few times and got a good price on last years designs.
