Any pictures of your decoy setup? What did you have out?

Both of us had a single hen and jake setup about 8-10 yards from the blind. We only had to call enough to get the birds into the field so they could see the decoys. Once they saw them we shut up and let them do the rest on their own.

I only ask because when we were out for youth I had the full setup two hens a tom and a jake. All of the toms we called in would stand about 20 -25 yards outside the setup and stare at the tom. Thinking Fergies Tom may be a little intimidating lol

By the way that was 11 toms that hung up 20-25 yards out and we had a 10 year old shooter on his first hunt ever

I'm no turkey expert by any means but from what I've seen and heard from people I've talked to the full strut Tom decoys can be intimidating - especially to younger birds and those who aren't quite in the mood for a fight. From what I gather it's somewhat like having a 150" buck decoy with his ears pinned back. When it works it's going to draw in the boss gobbler. However more times than not the other birds aren't going to want to mess with him. The jake decoy is a lot less intimidating and will get those birds in who want to fight and steal his woman.
