Went up and checked the cams I had out on my property this past weekend and didn't have a whole lot of bird activity yet, but that's not too unusual, I still have almost a month before my season opens up. I did get a picture of a buck still holding both sides back on March 25th, which seemed pretty odd to me.

I'll be back up there in a couple more weeks to check all of the cams, and the action should definitely be heating up, until then, I'll be practicing and fine tuning my calling skills, good luck to everyone else out hunting already.

I got permission on a spot I shot one of my birds last year on. Also hoping to get permission on 1 or 2 more properties this year. My brother and I will be hitting the woods hard this weekend. Hopefully one of us can score on a big tom!

ArrowJunkie you should be the Captain. I am fine with it if no one has a problem. Choose any name you want. Let's Put Some Birds Down!

I had a big tom at 15 yards this morning but couldn't get the camera on him and get a shot.

So close HoytHunter....hopefully you can get back on him either tonight or again tomorrow morning. Keep the updates coming, just fuels the fire until I can get out there in a few weeks.

I was able to call in and harvest my first turkey on film this morning! It was an awesome self filmed hunt, he pecked around at my jake decoy before getting shot at 10 yards with my Hoyt! 9 1/4" beard, 7/8" spurs and 23lbs, a nice Nebraksa 2yo and a great way to start of the 2015 season! Scores 59 for the contest. Footage will be on the Bow Life Outdoors YouTube channel later on this spring. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

HoytHunter, that's a great bird, way to get the scoring started. Nice work getting it all on film too, can't wait to see that footage!

Went up to the property this weekend and finally had some birds moving through the fields. Here are some of the better pictures...looks like at least 3 different toms and a couple jakes looking good for the season! Now just have to wait a few more days. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Just a little over 5 days before I'm out chasing after turkeys, I can't wait! As of now, the weather looks pretty good with no real chance of rain, hopefully it stays that way (knock on wood). Anybody having any luck, or getting close to any birds other than HoytHunter?

Went out yesterday morning and afternoon. I had 2 Jakes come in around 5:45PM. Shot low and missed the one I shot at. 19-22 yard shot. They never gobbled. I was calling every 10 mins or so and they just strolled in. This was the first time I EVER went turkey hunting. I got it all on video and I will be posting it on Youtube this weekend. Man it sucks, but I will keep at it!

Finally heading up to my property should be out in the blind in two hours or less. I'll let you guys know what happens when I get out there.

Sam that sounds like a great encounter good luck getting them next time and welcome to the addiction of turkey hunting!
