I'm salary, but have a set work schedule. 6:30-3:30 M-F. No weekends. They are pretty flexible if you have an appointment or something that needs to be done. We are customer driven so we have to be here to answer the phone during our business hours. We also have a 4-10 shift that two people do each week, but the hours suck. It's from 8-7 M-Th, off Friday. I choose not to participate as getting off at 3:30 every day is better than being off on Friday.

I used to be salary that changed this passed Wednesday.....downsizing.....got to love it. They had me on a 50 hr week and had to work every other weekend. I have to say now that I'm punching the clock I'm only required to work 40 and overtime is optional because it's Union I'm not required to work it honestly I don't think I will ever go back to management.... Better quality of life now. Just my opinion.

My last two salaried jobs had core hours of 9-3 you had to be in the office. I generally work 6:30-3:00 because I like getting out early. Even if I have to work over I get done at a decent time so I can get home to hunt, shoot, walk the dogs, etc., before it gets dark.

For some reason I always seem to get my work done faster than fellow engineers so I usually have a little time each day.

Lack of work ethics seems to run rampant these days. This is one of the reasons why there is such POOR Customer Service nowadays. Sadly many people don't take pride in what they do anymore

I only get paid for the work I get done and it's from home. :)

It's considered a full time job but I'm probably only working about 12 hours a week. I'm seriously considering a second job because I feel like a slacker... And I have an African hunting trip to pay for.

I've been with the same company for 38 years. Of course I know/work with some clock suckers.

It's not my job to watch or complain about them. I just do my work to the best of my ability and mind my own work ethic. Then I collect my check and go home. No stress or tattling, worry free!

Healthy person on disability or welfare is worse in my opinion. A clock sucker may provide some value to the organization albeit a reduced amount but they may provide a contribution whereas a healthy person on disability/welfare provides 0 benefit from a society value added standpoint. They are a drag on the resources that a given society generates. There are no free lunches in a society, someone always pays and in the case of disability or welfare we as taxpayers do.

I've always said that at some point in everyones work life, they should be on piecework or have to work on straight commission. This would really weed out the people who don't want to work. I've been on commission for most of my working life, it's the only way I would have it, when things are going good, it's really nice, when the economy slows down, well that's why you need to save for a rainy day.
