Took the day off Saturday to rake the plots. Sucks but it has to be done clearing 2 1/2 acre plots. Not going to put seed down yet but I have about a 1/4 ton per acre of wet oak leaves to get off going to try to use the piles of leaves to be a barrier to keep grass out of the plot.

If Oak leaves are left to build up they create a wet mat which can block underlying moisture on the ground and can increase potential for bugs and diseases. Just food for thought.

That may be the case but the plots are surrounded by acres of thick oak and brush, there is a carpet of oak leaves.

Can you use a leaf blower or are the leaves to wet?

Can you get to them are with a riding mower? I ask because you have the alternative to mulch the leaves. I have in the past used a push mover with a mulching blade and grind them up for some organic matter. Maybe easier then trying to rake them. Good luck with it.

Leafblower peeled mine up this week in WI. Be careful where u push the leaves I smothered some plant life around my plot by piling it up on an edge.

I know the feeling. I blew mine out a final time last week before I sprayed the last bit of Roundup. I hope to sow tomorrow

I hate the sound of leaf blowers so I won't own one. I did try to spread the leaves out once I got to the edge.

Where earmuffs? The leafblower works suprisingly well for me. I also clear main access trails with it in october after leaf drop.
