I just ordered a new HHA Kingpin with the .010 pin. What do other hunters prefer regarding pin diameter?
I have .019 on both of my HHAs, (5519) but I'm thinking of going to the .010, since it's so bright. I'll be curious to hear what your experiences are with the .010. V
I use a .029 pin on my Hogg Father, most likely because I'm older and wear glasses. My sight housing is also on a rail that's extended a good ways beyond the bows frame.
Why wouldn't you go as small as your eye sight will allow? The bigger the pin the more you are blocking your target. Always think X.
Invisible man, your question makes perfectly good sense sir. I first tried a .019 pin and had to go larger.
Sure. You gotta go with what your eye needs. But you always want to see as much of your target as you can. Think small. Think X.
I have had both sizes and I have to say, smaller is better in this case. Something I have noticed using both though it is 40-50 yards a .019 will serve you fine. You still be able to see plenty of target for an accurate shot. The .010 really shines passed 50 yards, when you really do need to see as much target as possible. To put it simply, at 80 yards the .019 takes up 2.5" - 3" of target vs. the .010 takes up an 1" - 1.5" of target. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm out on the single pin... The grapevine says that HHA is coming out with a multi-pin movable this year.
I prefer .019 that's what I have on my Hogg father, I tried the .010 and for me it was to small. I think that's just personal preference. If you got good eyes and can see a .010 pin clear I'd use that.
I don't shoot X's, I shoot deer. Out to 60 yards at home I have not had an issue with a 0.019" pin and they seem to gather a little more light in dawn/dusk shooting conditions, to my eye anyway. My last sight had 3 - 0.019" and 2 - 0.010" pins. I am not sure I am staying with the single though, I may put the 3 pin head back on my Ascent. All three of those are 0.019" also.
