You didn't even watch them did you? of course not because I posted it so it must be crap... A person who has read it researched it and studied it and then speaks about what they learned it is an expert on the subject.. where do think experts come from? I would put a man from the Ayn Rand Institutes opinion above anyone on here..
I watched the 2 short videos and they were full of fear mongering and outright lies. I didn't watch the 17 min video because I'm at work.
obviously I can't to you in my own words what I have learned is from read various studies and texts all I can do is formulate and opinion based on what many experts have said..And many say this is a bad idea.. do you really want a dept of the Internet.. and yes the end goal is Gov control.. are you sure you are libertarian?
For now, the Internet will remain the same as it was. But remember the words of Abraham Lincoln “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
Why is it a bad idea? There is no "Department of the Internet"...and your speculation that the end goal is government control is just pure paranoia Yes. Like I said. If the government had stayed out of the internet business in the beginning, we wouldn't have to worry about this and I would be against this. But there is no free market when it comes to internet providers right now. None. It doesn't exist. The government helped kill the free market already by helping certain internet providers become monopolies. That is called crony capitalism. The government has now recognized that they created these monsters, and now they are taking the steps to control the monsters that they created.
uh...no ones opinion they are lies based off facts one of the videos opening lines said "this will change the internet like never before" It was a class II in 2005
I'm as cautious as the next guy about the government having oversight over yet another part of our lives... But I've yet to hear a coherent/sensible argument for why NN is a bad thing.
I think people think that net neutrality is government control of the content of the internet, when it's not. It's government regulation on how you receive your internet.
Is everyone against the government regulating how you receive your electricity? Because that is exactly what net neutrality did. Defined the internet as a utility. A private company provides the service, but since the government helped them build the infrastructure, the government is going to regulated how those companies provide the utility. Because, just like with electricity, most people only have 1 or 2 options when it comes to providers.
This tread is typical for here and most places. If it's proposed buy a member of the party you identify with its good. If it comes from the other side it's bad. How about some critical thinking skills get applied and you look at actual proposal and factual determination.
The only critical thinking I see on your end is a bunch of sound bites from put out from the corporate controlled media.
only thing I see from you and your little clique of forum friends is parroting each other and slapping one anothers back every time one of you takes jab at folks you don't agree with and if one member of the clique posts a response to someone, then the rest join in the attack, and they'll all be even more motivated to help each other berate original poster rather then have a meaningful discussion...... judging by your sig trail I must have a ton of character...lol
I totally understand mistrust of the government, the federal government in particular. However what I don't understand is the lack of mistrust for corporate America, this baffles me. Corporate America and the federal government are so intertwined right now that i don't believe it's rational to trust one and not the other.
Now you're just going too far. It's an argument... No one is slapping anyone's backs. We are simply stating what we think on the subject. We are not attacking you... We are debating with you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
