DITTO... versatile sight. I use the 50 and 60 yard pins for practice only; makes the 20-40 ones seem like chip shots.
Does the type of game you pursue change your answer? I currently use a 5-pin Cobra on my set up which I have only used for hunting White-Tails. However, I am planning an my first elk hunt for the fall will be buying a new bow. I have toyed with the idea of getting a single-pin for a clearer-sight picture on a longer shot on an elk than I would take at a deer. Thoughts on that?
3 pin adjustable Montana Black Gold. 20, 30, & 40, then I can adjust the wheel if I want to practice farther. I bought it because those are my normal whitetail ranges and I don't want to adjust it, but I plan to go out west and wanted options.
Black gold 1 pin sight. Don't know the name. It is pretty simple to me. Set at 25 yards every time you start hunting. Anything closer than that the pin will still work even if you don't aim a little low. Anything out to 30 will work for me too. Anything beyond that I should have time to range and adjust dial.
I had a 3 pin sight, just bought the Trophy Ridge React 5 pin sight. Where I hunt deer there is a lot of cover so when the deer step out I don't have time to adjust a 1 pin sight... JMHO
I typically use a single pin HHA. I keep it set on 25 yd, and I'm good from 0-30 from my tree without moving it. I've got adjustment out further if I need it, but most deer from my spots are within that. If they're farther than 30, I slide the bar up to where I need it and shoot. This system has worked very well for me for about 30 years, starting out with the old SightMaster. I like the single, clean look of the one pin as I sight in, and the auto centering alignment of pin, housing, and peep. Just for kicks, I picked up a Trophy Ridge React 5 last week for a backup bow that I got on a trade. It's the first time that I've used a multi pin since way back. It took me a few shots to get used to the jumble of pins in the housing, but I'm shooting it well, out to 60. I still like the single pin better, but either seems to fit the need, provided that you practice with it. V
5 pin, 20,30,40,50, iq micro. I figured it was easier to get a five pin and take a pin off than to get a tree pin and add on on.
used to use a 5 pin set but shifted to 3 pin set at 20, 30, 40. Am going to add one more pin at 60 for target practice.
I just picked up the HHA Optimizer Lite. I wanted to try out an HHA and for 20-60 yd shots the Optimizer Lite made sense. I don't see the need to dial in 1 yd. I'm okay with 5 yd increments. I've never shot a single pin so I'm curious how I'll like it.
I just got my Apex Covert single pin about two months back. I love the single pin, and where I hunt it makes sense to use it; my longest shot from my stands might be 25 yards. My league scores shot through the roof once I got it. From high 270's - low 280's to low 290's. I give full credit to the clear sight picture of only having one pin.
5 pin montana black gold rush. I bought it because it appeared to be a high quality sight for right around 100 bucks. Just got it last week but thus far I am thinking I made a good purchase
