My favorite vehicle was no Doubt my 2004 Jeep Wrangler. I bought it brand new two weeks after returning from Iraq, It was my "your alive, and your wife was cheating on you the last 15 months" present. I quickly voided the warranty by putting a 2.5" body lift, and 3" suspension lift, with some big ol 33"s on it. loved it......love love love..Had it for 3 years until i met my new wife and we bought our first house together....I miss it every day, someday I will have another one just like it.
I drove full sized Ford or Chevy pickups for along time...always bought brand new. But my favorite vehicle is the Chevy Trailblazer I currently drive. Bought it used 7 yrs ago...runs great...easy to park...no problems with it
I have a 75 Scout 345 with the 4 barrel bought it out in Durango few years back, love that truck. I also had a 68 that had the 266 V8. No power steering drum brakes metal floor and top it was work driving that truck over 50 mph. Love IH trucks
Do any of you guys have pics of these older trucks? I love older vehicles like this and would love to see pics!
My '68 Bronco. Completely stock. The only thing I added to it was a wiper delay and an FM convertor to the AM radio. Look where the spare tire is. Blocking the rear side window!
1980 Ford F350 me and my dad "restored" when I was in high school. Got it off grandparents and we kinda fixed it up. That think was like driving a log wagon around, pretty stiff suspension and low geared. Didn't haveta worry too much about speeding tickets though. Was last big project me Andy dad had before I went military then he passed away few years later while I was overseas. Still kinda wish had thay old truck but still have memories. Might be able to come up with a pic somewhere but haveta do some looking ha.
You don't steer Scouts, you herd them down the road. LOL Especially when the steering box gets loose. The doors sag, the hood release knob comes off, the heat gets stuck in the 'on' position... but you gotta love 'em. Tough as nails and would go through about anything.
My favorite and current. 96 two door tahoe. 5.7 vortec, now sitting 4 inches higher on 35 goodyear dura tracks. In the process of putting in detroit lockers and re gearing the rear end. Even spinning 35s on stock gears it is hard keeping tires umder it. Fun little thing to drive. eye <3 peanutbutter
'74 CJ5 - 360 Dodge, 3 speed tranny, 4 barrel carb., 2" suspension lift, 32" Dunlop Mud Terrain and a deafening exhaust...damn, what I would do to have her and the high school days back playing soccer and chasing women..this made it pretty easy though haha keeping gas in it was the only hard part as it averaged 7mpg and a whopping total of 74 miles to a full tank. Totally worth it though
My first truck was an 88 Ford Ranger, 2wd 5 speed. That damn thing would get stuck anywhere and everywhere. But I got it for free, got 22 mpg, and surprisingly it stayed intact after hitting 4 deer in it without fixing it. Now I drive a 97 GMC Sierra. It only has a 305, but its held its own as far as pulling goes. I have pulled 8k pound skid loaders on heavy duty tilt trailers, mini hoes, etc with it. Kind of hard on transmissions though Modifications: Flowmaster muffler K&N air filter Heavier duty Monroe shocks Torsion bar keys and extra leaf springs in the rear Goodyear Duratrac 285/75R16 tires Heavier duty tie rods Heavy half ton transmission (almost out again) 5% tint KC HiLite 6x9s Its been a good truck, but it's time for a new to me truck. Had this one since 2007. Next truck will look like this, minus the ghetto wheels:
Strangely enough for me it was a 1992 Geo Storm GSI, it had a 4 cylinder, dual cam, quad valve rocket of a motor, with a straight 5 speed manual transmission. It had 15 inch 50 series tires that I could not spin, I'd dump the clutch and before I would get across the intersection I'd be in 2nd gear. I rolled up on my BIL's POS junk CVCC Honda, looked over and I can't remember if I blipped my throttle or he did... The light turned green and I dumped the clutch and he told me later I was half way across the intersection and in 2nd gear before he barely made a car length off the line. :-) His friend said he didn't believe the car was that quick. On the test drive, I banged my way into 4th gear, looked down and I was doing between 50 and 55 mph on a city street with a 35 mph limit. I looked over at the wife and told her we were buying it. I don't think I could hardly drive it to work (40 miles one way) these days because I had to lay the seat back in order for me to fit into the car. My back is not what it was used to back in the mid 90's. Oly
My favorite was a 2004 Jeep Wrangler. I got a six inch suspension lift and had it on 35 inch super swamped SSR's, also had the gears swapped out for 4.56 gear ratio. That thing was a beast, it still makes me sad that I had to trade it in to get something more practical when I became a family man.
